About Digitail
Digitail is on a mission to transform the veterinary profession with smart, customer-driven technology. We're building the all-in-one operating system for animal hospitals, simplifying everything from client communication and patient care to scheduling and billing. Having just closed a Series B fundraise, we're entering an exciting new chapter of growth and innovation.
About the Role
We're building growth post our Series B in 2025 and are scaling across North America. At this stage the numbers need to drive more of our decisions, and our leaders, teams and investors need one trusted source of truth. You'll be a critical senior hire into Finance, offering a strategic lens on the next phase of maturity for the function, shaping how Finance works for our next stage of growth
As our Senior Finance Manager, you'll be the finance partner who turns our numbers into decisions. You'll take on the finance ops work that calls for real judgment, own SaaS metrics and investor reporting, and oversee our accounting function.
You'll decide the right mix of AI, outsourced, and part-time help to run the day-to-day accounting, then set it up and manage it. You'll be the face of Finance for the rest of Digitail. Teams will come to you for answers on budgets, spend and performance, and you'll make finance easy to work with: clear processes, quick turnarounds and numbers people trust. You'll explain what the numbers mean in plain language, in leadership meetings, the Monthly Business Review, Town Hall, and you'll build strong working relationships with our Heads of departments across Revenue, Engineering, Product and Operations so Finance is part of decisions early, not consulted at the end. Externally, you'll manage our auditors, tax advisors, banks and outsourced partners.
What you'll own: the month-end close and our SaaS metrics and their definitions; the monthly investor update; the audit and tax calendar; and how the accounting function is run (people, partners and tools). Where you'll shape decisions: Advising management on budget allocation, commission & bonus structures, finance operations, defining and implementing new processes, etc.
Responsibilities
Finance ops and decision-making: Take on the analysis and decisions that don't have a clear right answer. Dig into the data, build the tools and plans the business runs on, and work with Sales, Customer Success, and Product to land on a recommendation you can defend.
SaaS metrics and investor reporting: Own ARR, net revenue retention, CAC payback, and payments revenue reporting. Produce the monthly investor update, and keep metric definitions consistent across Finance, Sales, and the data warehouse.
Accounting oversight: Be accountable for the accounting function end to end. Decide how the day-to-day work gets done, whether through AI, an outsourced firm, a part-time accountant, or a mix, then set it up, manage it, and step in directly when needed.
Audit, tax, and compliance: Lead the annual audit and tax filings with external advisors, and keep us compliant across jurisdictions.
Finance operations and systems: Improve how billing, collections, and reconciliation run, and decide what is automated, what is outsourced, and what stays in-house. Keep documentation current so the function doesn't depend on any one person.
Business partnering and communication: Be the first point of contact for Finance across the company. Support budget owners with their budgets and spend, answer questions quickly, and share financial updates in a way non-finance teams understand and can act on
About You
5+ years of experience in finance, including time running finance operations for a SaaS company, ideally at Series A to C stage
CPA, CA, or equivalent designation, or deep accounting experience that lets you review a close and an audit file with confidence
SaaS metrics fluency: you can build and defend ARR, retention, and unit economics reporting, and explain it to leadership and stakeholders.
Multi-entity experience: you've handled accounting and payroll across multiple countries and currencies, for both employees and contractors, which is a real asset here
Tool experience: you're comfortable with Stripe, QuickBooks, HubSpot, and Google Sheets or Excel, and can work with BI tools to get to the data yourself
AI fluency: you already use AI tools in your daily work to analyze data, automate repetitive tasks, and speed up reporting, and you can tell when the output is right and when it isn't
Judgment and ownership: you're comfortable making a call where there isn't a clear right answer, communicating it clearly, and following through without hand-holding
Strong communicator and partner: you can explain complex numbers simply to people outside Finance, build trust with senior stakeholders, and push back constructively when the numbers don't support a plan.
Hands-on when it counts: you're comfortable getting into the details when needed, whether that's fixing an issue or covering until the right support is in place
Bonus: experience with payments or payment facilitation revenue
