Description

Senior Finance Manager - Accounting and Controls (FTC)

Luton | Full-time | FTC | Hybrid

20% bonus • 7% pension • Staff travel benefits

We support hybrid working, and you’ll spend 60% of your time each month in the office.

You’re a finance leader who brings clarity to complex numbers, builds confidence in the controls behind them and helps teams act on what the data is saying.

If you combine strong accounting judgement with practical leadership and can explain financial performance clearly to both finance and operational stakeholders, this role gives you the scope to make a visible impact.

The opportunity

This is a level HMP1, 12-month fixed-term contract providing maternity cover, reporting to the Head of Finance - R2R. You’ll lead accounting and controls across Operations Finance, with oversight of three direct reports and a wider team of 20.

You’ll bring together financial results across operational areas, strengthen balance sheet control and give business partners and senior leaders a clear view of monthly performance, risks and opportunities.

The team & culture

You’ll be part of the Financial Transactions and Core Finance community, working closely with Operations Finance, Group Financial Control and business partners across the airline. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with a shared focus on accurate reporting, useful insight and continuous improvement.

You’ll lead with clarity, support colleagues to solve problems and build strong cross-functional relationships, creating an environment where people can deliver dependable work and keep improving how the team operates.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll own accounting, control and reporting across Operations Finance, including the accuracy of the profit and loss account and balance sheet, timely reconciliations, journals and accounting judgements.

You’ll consolidate monthly results, explain performance against budget, forecast and prior year, and turn variances, cost drivers, risks and opportunities into clear insight for business partners and senior management.

You’ll act as the key accounting and controls contact for internal and external audits, supporting audit papers and maintaining a robust first line of defence across the team.

You’ll lead and develop the team while improving reports, processes and systems, strengthening supplier billing accuracy and ensuring operational changes are captured correctly in the accounts.

Requirements of the Role

What we’re looking for

You’ll be professionally qualified through ACA, ACCA or CIMA, with substantial post-qualification experience and a strong track record of practical accounting judgement, financial control and accurate reporting.

You’ll have experience leading a transactional finance team, developing people and delivering to demanding deadlines. You’ll be comfortable working through complex processing and escalating material issues appropriately.

You’ll communicate confidently with finance and non-finance stakeholders, including directors, and translate detailed financial matters into clear decisions and actions.

  • You’ll bring strong IT literacy, including advanced Excel, with experience of VBA or SQL useful. You’ll be proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable operating with minimal direction.

  • What you’ll get

  • > Competitive base salary + up to 20% bonus

  • > 7% employer pension contribution

  • > Private medical insurance

  • > 25 days holiday + bank holidays

  • > Annual credit towards an easyJet holiday

  • > Excellent staff travel benefits

> Flexible benefits package including share schemes
