About the role Join Tyro's Financial Control team and play a key role in delivering trusted financial information for a fast-moving Australian payments business. As the Senior Financial Accountant at Tyro, you will help own the integrity of core accounting processes, support month-end close and statutory reporting, and partner with Finance stakeholders to strengthen financial control, automation and reporting quality. This role suits a technically strong accountant who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and communicate financial information clearly and accurately. What you'll do Own and prepare month-end journals across areas such as investments in associates, accruals, leases, consolidation and inter-company transactions. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and support timely month-end reporting, including cash flow statement preparation. Contribute to statutory reporting, including financial statement notes and sustainability reporting inputs. Support weekly payments reviews and Payment Times Reporting lodgements. Apply Australian Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements to ensure accurate, compliant and well-supported financial outcomes. Prepare and maintain accounting policies, process documentation and control evidence. Support internal and external audits by preparing clear work-papers, responding to queries and helping close issues efficiently. Identify and implement practical improvements to financial processes, controls and reporting, including opportunities to automate accounts payable and reconciliation activities. Partner with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders on ad-hoc analysis, projects and continuous improvement initiatives. What you'll bring Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (CA, CPA or equivalent). Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) as a Financial Accountant or similar role. Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB/IFRS). Well-developed communication skills and ability to solve problems with consideration to business impact. Excellent time management/planning skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Experience in ERP accounting systems is ideal and strong Excel skills. Proactive and eager to learn and adapt to new challenges. What’s in it for you?
