Senior Financial Accountant

Our client is a well-established boutique Financial Services firm with a small, high-performing team and a growing investment portfolio. They're looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance team on a permanent basis reporting to the Head of Finance. This role will be based in the CBD and will offer 1 day work from home.

This is a broad, all inclusive Finance role which would be an excellent step into Financial Services for a candidate moving from a Chartered firm or a Boutique Finance firm.

THE ROLE

- You'll report to the CFO and work day-to-day with the Head of Finance across the full finance cycle.

- You'll manage banking, payment runs, AP support, general journals and reconciliations.

- You'll own monthly payroll in Xero, including onboarding and offboarding.

- You'll complete month-end processes, balance sheet recs and group consolidation reporting.

- You'll prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting packs with budget-to-actual analysis, cash flow reporting and commentary on key variances.

- You'll prepare BAS, IAS, payroll tax and FBT returns, along with other statutory lodgements.

- You'll partner with the Investment Management team to track portfolio performance, budgets, cash flow forecasts and variances.

- You'll support the year-end statutory audit across group entities.

- You'll drive process and systems improvements, including rolling out AI-enabled efficiencies across the function.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

- You'll hold a degree in Accounting or Commerce and be CA or CPA qualified (or close to completing).

- You'll have 3-5 years' experience in a financial or management accounting role.

- You'll have hands-on experience with payroll, BAS, IAS and FBT.

- You'll be confident preparing management reports and balance sheet reconciliations.

- You'll have strong Excel skills, and Xero or cloud-based system experience will be a big plus.

- Exposure to financial services or investment-related businesses will be highly regarded.

- You'll be detail-driven, commercially minded and comfortable juggling competing deadlines in a small team.
