Senior Financial Accountant

I’m supporting a growing European fintech with the appointment of a Senior Financial Accountant for its Finnish entity.

This is a hands-on role with full ownership of the local accounting function, including daily bookkeeping, month-end and year-end closes, statutory reporting, VAT and tax filings. You’ll work directly with the CFO while helping build scalable accounting processes as the Finnish operation grows.

💰 €64,000–€82,000 per year depending on experience

What you’ll be doing

• Own end-to-end accounting for the Finnish entity
• Perform daily bookkeeping, postings and reconciliations
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with Finnish GAAP
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, tax filings and statutory reports
• Ensure compliance with Finnish accounting and tax requirements
• Establish and improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Identify gaps and resolve issues in existing accounting workflows
• Coordinate with external accountants and auditors while maintaining internal ownership
• Ensure documentation and schedules remain accurate and audit-ready
• Support the Finnish entity’s transition into the company’s primary operating hub

What we’re looking for

• Approximately six or more years of hands-on accounting experience
• Previous experience working within fintech, payments, banking or another financial-services environment
• Proven experience independently owning end-to-end accounting for a Finnish entity
• Strong knowledge of Finnish GAAP, VAT, local taxation and statutory reporting
• Hands-on experience with Netvisor, Xero, SAP or a similar accounting platform
• Comfortable working directly in the systems and performing detailed cross-checks and reconciliations
• Experience leading monthly and annual closes
• A practical and flexible approach to working within a growing company where processes are still being developed
• Fluent Finnish and English
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline
