Working in our dynamic, successful Finance team there has never been a better time to join Pepper Money, a specialist mortgage lender backed by a global financial institution offering first and second charge loans.

We really do believe that it's our people who are our main competitive advantage – the 'thing' that sets us apart from our competitors.

Our passion is to 'Help People Succeed'. This is at the heart of everything we do and includes our valued customers, intermediary brokers and partners as well as all of our fantastic colleagues.

We operate a hybrid working model, with a split of days being in the office and days being worked at home. Pepper Money has three offices across the UK and one office in Manila, where this role will be based.

What you will be doing

The Senior Financial Accountant will join the Financial Control team and work closely with the Finance Manager and Financial Controller to deliver accurate and timely financial results, maintain a strong control environment and support key technical accounting and finance transformation activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, review and post accurate month-end accounting entries and journal adjustments at entity and consolidated level.
  • Take operational ownership of assigned key accounting judgement areas, including EIR and ECL, from source data and model execution through validation, accounting, reporting and audit support.
  • Run and maintain calculations, models and control packs; reconcile outputs to source systems and the general ledger, investigate exceptions and explain material movements.
  • Apply practical IFRS knowledge, particularly IFRS 9, to loan accounting, impairment, amortised cost and related financial control activities.
  • Support hedge accounting, securitisation and warehouse SPV accounting, including reconciliations, schedules, disclosures and audit evidence.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to an audit-ready standard, resolving reconciling items, aged balances and unusual movements promptly.
  • Support statutory accounts, regulatory reporting, interim and year-end audits, and relevant Manila accounting, tax and compliance activities when required.
  • Partner with UK and Manila Finance, Credit Risk, Treasury, Technology, Tax, Compliance, FP&A and external advisers to resolve accounting, data and reporting matters.
  • Improve controls and efficiency through automation, Python, Microsoft Fabric, data tools and responsible use of AI technologies.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualified Accountant, preferably a Philippines Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Strong practical experience of IFRS 9, particularly in relation to provisioning and impairment analysis.
  • Experience within the UK banking or financial services sector would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting requirements and the ability to apply them in a practical financial reporting environment.
  • Knowledge of other relevant accounting standards, including IFRS 16 and IFRS 1, would be beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret accounting standards, analyse financial information, and apply sound accounting judgement.
  • Strong audit background and audit mindset.
  • Experience within banking or financial services is preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, including securitisation, cash flow, and the associated accounting treatment.
  • Ability to interpret accounting standards, assess their application, and perform technical accounting analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, coding, and AI tools such as Copilot would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Open-minded, adaptable and willing to learn, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Some of the benefits we provide are:

  • Competitive salaries and bonus schemes
  • Hybrid home/office working arrangements
  • Regular training and opportunities to learn and grow
  • Holiday leave plus bank holidays
  • Medical insurance cover
  • Life insurance
  • Health and wellbeing support

In return for your commitment, you'll have the chance to develop your career in a dynamic environment, working alongside top talent and an exceptional leadership team. If you want to be involved in our exciting expansion plans and have the chance to really shape and influence the way the business grows, then we'd love to hear from you.
