About the team / role
WEX is currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its Strategic Capital Investments team. WEX is committed to building a robust investment strategy partnering with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and senior leaders across the Commercial, Technology, and Product organizations to fund investments to drive future growth.
As our Senior Financial Analyst, you will report to the Finance Director of the Strategic Capital Investments team and play a key role in shaping our evolving framework for how WEX allocates capital internally and measures investment outcomes. The Strategic Capital Investments team works closely with various Commercial, Technology, and Product leaders across the enterprise, and partners with the ELT to design our annual capital investment program. This role will join a team that supports and reports on important financial and operational metrics aligned to strategic enterprise goals. You will help enable the project portfolio management process for capital expenditures, deliver high-quality financial analysis and modeling, and partner with leaders across the enterprise to provide insights that support performance tracking, informed decision-making, and progress against strategic outcomes. Lastly, strong executive presence and experience creating Board of Directors materials is a plus, as the team is regularly pulled into the quarterly board process.
How you'll make an impact
- Own ongoing investment performance tracking through KPI and Revenue analysis, supporting the Delivery team’s monthly Enterprise Goals and Outcomes reporting and preparation of executive-level materials for ELT review.
- Design and enhance an enterprise-wide capital portfolio management approach that balances risk, return, and strategic alignment.
- Perform detailed financial evaluations—including ROI, NPV, and IRR—to support prioritization and funding decisions across competing initiatives.
- Develop and refine dynamic business case models that enable scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and informed tradeoff discussions.
- Partner closely with Product, Technology, and Commercial teams to surface, evaluate, and advance investment opportunities that align to enterprise strategy and financial objectives.
- Identify investments that are not meeting expectations and work with stakeholders to recommend course corrections or optimization actions.
- Produce clear, compelling analyses and executive-ready materials that communicate investment performance, drivers, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Improve and automate investment governance and tracking processes to increase efficiency, transparency, and decision quality.
- Work collaboratively with FP&A leadership and teams to ensure new and ad-hoc initiatives are thoroughly evaluated, appropriately modeled, and aligned with capital allocation priorities.
- Build trusted relationships across the organization by understanding stakeholder needs and translating them into disciplined financial insights.
- Coordinate with Finance, Accounting, and related teams to support strong controls, compliance, and effective investment outcomes.
- Bring a strong service mindset, analytical rigor, and clear communication skills to continuously strengthen partnerships with internal customers.
You should also expect:
- A collaborative and challenging working environment
- The opportunity to engage with various stakeholders across the business and senior leadership teams, including the ELT
- To train and develop your skills in your area of work with some of the best experts in the payments industry and simultaneously mentor analysts and other team members.
- To produce and work cross-functionally on the development and implementation of standardized reporting and processes to provide financial insights.
Experience you’ll bring
- College degree, BS degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred
- 4-5 years of progressive experience in finance, investment analysis, or strategy consulting roles
- Experience with (or strong desire to) working in a large team and working cross-functionally with a large number of business partners and stakeholders
