About the Role Our client is a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor and multi-family office. They work with a select group of households on the whole picture — investments, financial planning, estate, retirement and tax coordination — and they do it with a small, senior team rather than a large one. The Senior Financial Planner works directly with the Founder/Lead Advisor and carries genuine client ownership early on. You will be trusted with households to run rather than assigned to shadow someone else's. For a planner who has been one of many at a larger firm, that is the appeal: your judgment matters here, and clients feel it. Where This Role Leads They are building a bench rather than filling a seat — paraplanner, to planner, to advisor. This is the planner rung, and for the right person, it is a defined path to a full advisory role with your own client relationships. They promote from within because they would rather develop an advisor who already knows our clients and our standards than recruit one who doesn't. The planners who make that step here are the ones who have mastered the craft first — they can run the trade, close the estate file, and see an outstanding document all the way in. If that is the path you want, this role is built to take you there. Hours & Location Fully remote, open to candidates anywhere in the United States. The firm runs on Pacific time, with client meetings concentrated in the Pacific morning and early afternoon. Standard schedule: 8:00am–4:00pm Pacific. East Coast: 7:00am–3:00pm Pacific (10:00am–6:00pm Eastern). We are flexible on the exact shift. The first part of the day is largely uninterrupted heads-down time, and the day finishes early by Pacific standards — one of the quieter benefits of working here. Candidates in Pacific and Mountain time find the rhythm most natural. If you are further east, we would simply encourage you to look at the local hours and feel confident they suit you; we want this to work well for the long run. You Team and You Support You will not carry all of this alone. Their operations team handles account opening, custodial paperwork, notary coordination and document filing. One of their Directors of Operations is studying for the CFP® and moving toward a paraplanning role — data collection, entry into Right Capital, estate plan summaries, and follow-up on tax and insurance items. Where exactly that division falls is something you and she will shape together over your first ninety days. We would rather you draw that line from experience than have us guess at it now. Helping her develop is part of this role and one we value highly: a planner who can teach is a planner who scales, and it is the clearest signal we have that someone is ready for an advisory seat. Ownership stays with you. You can hand off the work; the outcome remains yours. Every open item on your household is yours to track, including the ones someone else is executing. That accountability is what makes delegation work — and it is what their clients feel. How They Work Together Weekly one-on-ones with the Lead Advisor through your first sixty days, moving to every other week as you settle in. Substantive feedback happens on video rather than over email — it is faster, clearer, and recorded so you can revisit it. Put time on the Lead Advisor's calendar whenever you need it. Fifteen minutes of am I on the right track beats two hours of rework, and no one there has ever been unwelcome for asking. What You Will Own 1. Client Ownership & Follow-Through Nothing falls through. Every open item has a name and a date on it. An active week generates a lot of open items, and keeping them moving is central to the role. You will have support on the collection work, and the judgment about what matters stays with you. Track every open item to completion in Wealthbox, with clear ownership, a defined next action and a due date. Pursue documents and data from clients, custodians, insurance carriers, third-party administrators and tax preparers until they arrive. Escalate anything stalled before it becomes visible to the client. When something doesn't get implemented, the client looks to us regardless of where the delay sat. Conduct proactive outreach and field client questions through to resolution. Maintain client records in Wealthbox and connected systems. Help onboard new clients and households alongside operations. 2. Planning & Advice The plan is right, the client understands it, and the recommendations get implemented. Complete data collection and request supporting documents ahead of annual review meetings. Enter and maintain financial details in Right Capital. Fact-check and present financial plans fluently to clients over Zoom, without reading from a script. Prepare recommendations using their Recommendations Template and present them to the client. Prepare the full financial plan and recommendations to send after the annual planning meeting. Email recommendations and action items after meetings, and document them in Wealthbox with client, assignee, and due date. Complete planning analyses as assigned — real estate, home affordability, and health insurance. Prepare the Lead Advisor for in-person meetings and handle the follow-up. Lead year-end tax planning: request reports and retirement plan estimates, prepare tax projections, and shape strategy. Handle tax document collection and support Business Management through the high-volume tax seasons (March/April and September/October). Manage company retirement plans: beginning-of-year data requests, year-end projections through the TPA, and liaison between the client, the TPA and the tax preparer. 3. Trading & Portfolio Trades are right the first time. This is where an operational mind pays off. Master the trading process and serve as backup to the primary trader through iRebal. Identify trades, build the trade blotter, review for accuracy, execute and document. Handle non-routine trading independently: allocating a newly funded account, and raising cash from a concentrated or tax-sensitive portfolio where the obvious sale is the wrong one. Assist with asset allocation reviews. Maintain margin balance oversight on applicable client accounts. 4. Estate & Specialty Projects Estate files get finished, not just opened. Manage the estate planning process end to end: schedule time with clients to create, update, and review their plans, and produce clear summaries. See documents through processing, notary and execution, with originals filed in the client record. Conduct beneficiary, estate and insurance reviews. Coordinate with clients and insurance companies for in-force illustrations, and obtain 401(k) information to facilitate rollovers. Lead planning projects with defined deadlines, and prepare market updates and the Periodic Table of Investment Returns for clients and prospects. 5. Efficiency & Automation The repetitive parts of the work get lighter every quarter. They intend to stay small and still grow, and thoughtful use of technology is how that works. This is a genuine part of the role, not an afterthought. Identify the recurring, low-judgment parts of the planning workflow and reduce them — meeting notes into Wealthbox, document requests, data collection prep, first-draft recommendations, and client correspondence. Build repeatable, documented processes rather than personal shortcuts: prompt libraries, templates, and workflow automations the whole team can use. Work within the firm's compliance boundaries. No client PII goes into consumer AI tools, and anything touching client communication or advice stays under human review and is retained per our books-and-records obligations. What They're Looking For Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, with at least five years of client-facing experience. Comprehensive planning experience at a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor. Practical, day-to-day use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude in professional work — processes you have genuinely put into practice — along with sound judgment about their compliance limits in a regulated advisory setting. Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. This is the single most predictive trait for success in this role. A thoughtful approach to delegation — you can describe how you keep ownership of work you have handed to someone else. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and comfort representing the brand with clients. The ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote setting, on the schedule described above. We would rather hire the right person and teach the software than screen on platform names. If you have several of these, please tell us: Hands-on experience with iRebal, Black Diamond, Wealthbox CRM, Right Capital or Charles Schwab Advisor Center. A background in investment operations, portfolio administration or on a trading desk. Experience building workflow automations with ChatGPT, Claude, Zapier or similar tools. Tax preparation or tax planning experience. Estate planning knowledge and experience. Experience mentoring or developing a junior planner or paraplanner. This role suits someone who enjoys getting into the details and takes real satisfaction in a clean file; who wants to grow into an advisory role and is glad to earn it through the technical work; who would rather be trusted with responsibility than eased into it; who looks at a repetitive task and wonders whether it could run itself; who enjoys bringing someone else along; and for whom a day anchored to Pacific hours fits well. It is a less natural fit for someone whose primary strength and interest is business development and building a book, or who would prefer a role with a fixed, narrowly defined scope. At a firm our size, scope moves — and we would rather say so now than have it surprise you later. Compensation & Benefits Base salary $120,000–$140,000 , depending on experience, plus a target annual bonus of 15–20% of base. Total target compensation $140,000–$165,000. The bonus is based on an individual scorecard and has been paid at target in the last year. Benefits include a monthly health stipend, 401k, Defined benefit plan, unlimited PTO , and full support for continuing education and CFP® renewal. Financial Planner Recruiting, LLC and Firm is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital or familial status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
