We are looking for an Amazing: Senior FinOps Technical Expert 🚀

Seniority: Senior (6+ years of experience)

Type of position: Hybrid in Lisbon, Portugal (2 days per week on-site)

The amazing you, will have:

• At least 6 years of experience in IT and Cloud Operations, with strong technical expertise in cloud environments.
• Proven experience in FinOps, cloud cost management and cloud financial optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, ideally complemented by experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience analysing cloud consumption, identifying cost optimization opportunities and providing technical recommendations.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture, infrastructure sizing, resource allocation and cost-efficient design.
• Experience with cloud budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, financial governance and optimization targets.
• Ability to technically challenge infrastructure and architectural decisions, recommending improvements without compromising performance or service quality.
• Experience supporting the implementation of cost optimization initiatives in collaboration with engineering, architecture and product teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to technical and business stakeholders.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and financial concepts clearly to management teams.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to transform cloud cost data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• A proactive and consultative mindset, combining technical expertise with product management and business awareness.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering or a related field.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Relevant cloud provider certifications (Azure, AWS and/or FinOps Foundation).

• Experience with IBM Cloudability for cloud financial management, cost allocation and optimization.
• Experience with Power BI and dashboard development for cloud cost reporting and executive presentations.
• Knowledge of Databricks and data analytics.
• Experience with Azure capacity reservation strategies and Capacity Reservation Groups.
• Experience with cloud pricing models, reserved instances, savings plans and commitment-based discounts.
• Experience defining FinOps policies, governance frameworks and cost accountability models.
• Experience with product finance processes, recharging mechanisms and showback/chargeback models.
• Experience establishing budgets, forecasts and cost optimization targets across application product lines.
• Experience monitoring cloud pricing trends and assessing new platform capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• FinOps Advisory: Act as a technical advisor to application product teams, providing recommendations on cloud architecture, infrastructure choices and cost optimization.
• Cloud Cost Optimization: Analyse cloud spending and usage across Azure and other cloud platforms, identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
• Architecture & Engineering: Challenge infrastructure decisions and collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to implement cost-effective solutions without compromising service quality.
• Financial Planning: Support budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization targets and product finance processes.
• Governance & Reporting: Improve cost visibility and transparency through reporting, dashboards, cost tracking and financial accountability.
• Stakeholder Management: Present findings and recommendations to technical teams, product stakeholders and senior management.
• Tools & Automation: Use tools such as IBM Cloudability and Power BI to automate cost monitoring, reporting and optimization activities.
• FinOps Strategy: Implement FinOps policies and best practices aligned with organizational standards.
• Product Collaboration: Support product management, cost allocation and recharging mechanisms across application product lines.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor cloud pricing trends, evaluate new platform capabilities and recommend improvements to cloud financial management practices.
