Job Description
This is a remote position.
Senior Full Stack Engineer
iCrimeFighter builds the evidence management platform trusted by law enforcement agencies across the country. We're looking for a senior engineer who thinks like an architect — someone who can navigate across a Node.js backend, Angular frontend, and iOS mobile layer while keeping security and scalability at the center of every decision.
You'll work closely with our tech lead and senior engineers, taking real ownership of critical architectural decisions and refactoring initiatives. This isn't a ticket-grinder role — we want someone who shapes how the system evolves.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement secure, scalable APIs and microservices using Node.js and AWS.
- Contribute to Angular web architecture and UI component design; own the frontend-backend contract.
- Collaborate with the iOS/Swift team to optimize mobile API integration, auth flows, and data sync.
- Evaluate and refactor architecture for scalability, maintainability, and compliance (CJIS, SOC2, OWASP).
- Lead decisions on caching strategy, database design, API versioning, and multitenancy patterns.
- Embed security best practices at every layer — encryption, audit logging, least-privilege access, and chain-of-custody.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and threat modeling.
- Document system designs, API contracts, and security decisions for audits and team knowledge sharing.
What We're Looking For
- Architectural mindset: You weigh trade-offs across the stack — monolith vs microservices, caching strategies, compliance implications — and can defend your reasoning.
- Security-first instincts: You understand the full lifecycle of evidence data and embed access control, encryption, and audit logging from the start — not as an afterthought.
- Cross-stack fluency: You're strongest in Node.js but can read, critique, and contribute to Angular and Swift codebases. You understand each layer's constraints and how they interact.
- Ownership mentality: You drive initiatives to completion — refactors, API redesigns, scaling work — without needing to be managed step by step.
Must Have
- 5+ years of professional software development, with at least 2 years in Node.js backend and meaningful exposure to modern web frontends (Angular, React, or Vue).
- Strong command of AWS services, deployment automation, and cloud scalability patterns.
- Proven experience designing and refactoring complex systems with real architectural trade-offs.
- Solid grasp of secure API design, identity management (OAuth2, JWT), data encryption, and integrity principles.
- Clear technical communication and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
- TypeScript and type-safe API design experience.
- Exposure to GraphQL, microservice patterns, or event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with mobile backend patterns — push notifications, offline sync, APNs.
- Experience with AWS GovCloud or government-regulated cloud environments.
- Background in CJIS or other compliance-driven software development.
Remote Work Expectations
This is a fully remote role. We expect a secure development environment, consistent availability during core hours, and proactive async communication. We trust our engineers to manage their time and flag blockers early.
