Senior Fund Accountant

Job Title: Fund Accountant – Venture Capital

Location: Remote / Pacific Time hours

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join our finance and operations team. Reporting to the CFO, this individual will support accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations.

Working closely with the CFO, and Fund Administrator, this role will provide broad exposure to fund accounting, audit, tax compliance, and day-to-day venture capital firm operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a high-integrity person looking to build a career in VC fund accounting within a successful, focused, relationship-oriented team.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting

● Maintain investment, valuation, and performance schedules

● Prepare workpapers to support investment purchase and sale transactions

● Review fund financial statements for consistency with schedules and workpapers

● Collect and track portfolio updates

● Other recurring tasks to support accurate and timely quarterly reporting

Finance & Firm Operations

● Process payroll and related administration

● Accounts Payable and Receivable

● Partner with CFO to provide financial data for internal reporting

Audit, Tax & Compliance

● Assist the CFO and Fund Administrator with audit and tax reporting activities

● Prepare and provide supporting documentation to respond to auditor inquiries

● Maintain investor records to support annual K-1 preparation and review

● Work with Fund Administrator to respond to investor requests and questionnaires

Experience and skills required

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field

● 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to but not required:

○ Venture capital, private equity, or other alternative investments

○ Partnership accounting, capital calls, distributions, and fund structures

○ Working with fund administrators, auditors, and tax preparers

● Big4 audit or tax experience a plus

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
