- Continuous growth through our in-house software development training center (HN Training Institute)
💡We are looking for a Senior Golang Engineer to join our innovative team!
Our client is a European insurtech company providing digital insurance solutions and embedded protection products, enabling seamless integration of insurance offerings into e-commerce and financial platforms across multiple markets.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build high-performance services: Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs (gRPC and REST) powering core insurance services, taking ownership of complex services and their evolution.
- Own delivery at system level: Lead microservices and larger system components end-to-end — from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and operational ownership in production.
- Contribute to technical direction: Provide input on technology choices, design patterns, and service boundaries; participate in architecture discussions led by Tech Leads and Architects.
- Mentor and elevate the team: Coach mid-level and junior engineers through design reviews, pairing, and constructive code reviews; raise the engineering bar across the team.
- Champion engineering excellence: Establish and enforce best practices in automated testing, observability (tracing, logging, metrics), CI/CD, and operational readiness.
- Lead in production: Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents; drive root-cause analysis, reliability improvements, and cost/performance optimization.
- Ensure compliance and security: Embed security policies, coding standards, and regulatory requirements of the financial and insurance sector into design decisions from the start.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
- 8+ years of backend development experience, with 5+ years working with Golang in production.
- Proven track record designing and evolving gRPC and REST-based APIs at scale, including ownership of complex service-level design decisions.
- Expert-level understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures, event-driven design, and cloud-native patterns.
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and modern DevOps workflows, including production troubleshooting at scale.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL (data modeling, performance tuning) and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and driving adoption of engineering best practices across a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building clean, efficient, and maintainable systems.
- Regular use of AI tools to improve productivity, automate or reduce repetitive work, support decision-making, and deliver higher-quality outcomes.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly by structuring effective prompts, critically validating outputs, understanding limitations, and taking ownership of the final result — and to guide others in doing the same.
- Excellent English communication skills, including the ability to communicate design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in the insurance, fintech, or broader financial services domain.
- Deep familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), ideally including cost optimization.
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Helm).
- Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams or contributing to platform-level decisions.
- German language skills are a plus.
*Only eligible candidates will be contacted for further information and start of the recruitment process.
