Salary Range: $83,232 - $91,011 per year
FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Full-time; Monday through Friday, any 8-hour shift between 8:00AM - 6:00PM

Job Summary
The Senior Grant Writer’s primary responsibility is to research, develop and write polished, compelling grant proposals to secure critical funding for SFH and its programs, including Day Shelter, Workforce Development, Behavioral Health, Housing Search & Stabilization, and other critical projects as needed. Additional responsibilities include identifying new funding opportunities, preparing grant budget requests, submitting timely reports, and collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure that all grant narratives and supporting materials are accurate and reflective of SFH impact.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Researches, develops, writes and submits proposals, program budgets, letters, reports and other materials as necessary for grant submissions.
- Develops and fosters positive ongoing relationships with private and corporate giving officers, program managers, and trustees to build and enhance the partnership between St. Francis House and its granting institutions.
- Assists with writing and submitting proposals for local, state, and federal contracts as assigned.
- Ensures that all grant submissions, reports and other funder communications are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner with a clear sensitivity to deadlines.
- Maintains an understanding of organizational funding gaps and aligns proposals and funding strategies with SFH priorities.
- Researches and identifies prospective funding opportunities that align with SFH programs and priorities.
- Collaborates efficiently and effectively with the other SFH Sr. Grant Writer to ensure that all proposals and reports are submitted on a timely basis. Each Sr. Grant Writer manages their own portfolio of funders and is responsible for meeting all associated deadlines and requirements.
- Tracks and documents deadlines, opportunities, and funder communications in donor database.
- Collaborates effectively with other staff, especially within Finance, Programs, Evaluation, and HR teams to ensure accurate deliverables.
- Researches current news, trends, data and synthesizes fundings to demonstrate the need for and impact of SFH programs and services.
- Identifies, analyzes and evaluates corporate and foundation prospects using online databases, financial information, such as 990s, and other research tools.
- Works to increase the awareness of St. Francis House and its programs within the corporate and foundation communities.
- Represents SFH and is willing to serve as a spokesperson for the organization at meetings, events and other external engagements.
- Adheres to SFH’s Code of Conduct.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, non-profit management, human services, or a related field.
- Three to five years’ related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with computers, including the use of email programs, web-based tools, common Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), internet-based resources and proficiency with donor management (CRM databases).
- Non-profit experience a plus.
Work Environment & Activity
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Constantly operate computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer.
- Occasional ability to lift and carry at 10-15 pounds.
- Occasional evenings, holidays, and weekend hours in support of special events, projects, etc.
- Required to work three days in the office on a weekly basis.
- Required to work the first 90 days on-site, in the office.
