About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Hydrodynamics Engineer to take technical ownership of our operational vessel-response forecasting capability. Your work will help clients assess weather-related operational risk and plan offshore activities with greater confidence.

Working with metocean specialists, software and data scientists, external collaborators and clients, you will translate vessel characteristics, operational criteria and forecast conditions into practical decision support. You will also help define how the service evolves by identifying client needs, improving modelling and validation methods, and supporting alignment with relevant standards and operational acceptance criteria.

This is a hands-on technical role with significant influence over both day-to-day service delivery and longer-term development priorities.

📍 The position is based in Norway, with the possibility to work from either our Bergen or Oslo office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Configure, operate, and maintain MIMOSA- and SIMO/SIMA-based models for new vessels, operating conditions, and offshore activities.
  • Review and validate vessel-response forecasts, investigate discrepancies, and improve model quality and forecast reliability.
  • Develop efficient, robust workflows for modelling, data processing, and quality control.
  • Work directly with clients and technical partners to define requirements, agree on modelling assumptions, and communicate results, uncertainties, and limitations.
  • Maintain the technical documentation and validation evidence required for operational use.
  • Evaluate relevant regulations, DNV standards, and client-specific acceptance criteria, and translate them into appropriate modelling and verification practices.
  • Monitor market, regulatory, and technology developments, particularly in the Norwegian offshore sector, and turn relevant opportunities into service development priorities.
  • Act as a technical authority on vessel-response forecasting and share expertise with colleagues across the organization.

Core Requirements

  • A degree in marine technology, naval architecture, hydrodynamics, ocean engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional experience with vessel motions, hydrodynamic analysis, marine operations, or a closely related discipline.
  • A sound understanding of wave-induced vessel responses, response statistics, and the uncertainties associated with metocean forecasts and hydrodynamic models.
  • Experience with MIMOSA, SIMO/SIMA, or comparable vessel-motion and marine-operation analysis tools.
  • Programming or data-analysis skills that can be applied to modelling, automation, validation, and quality control.
  • The ability to work independently, make well-reasoned technical decisions, and communicate complex results clearly to clients and technical stakeholders.
  • Professional proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant DNV standards, recommended practices, or marine warranty and operational acceptance processes.
  • Experience supporting live offshore operations or operational forecasting services.
  • Experience developing production-ready modelling or automated data-processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with the Norwegian offshore market.
  • Knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
