As Senior Internal & External Communications Manager, you shape how ING communicates on the topics that matter most to our employees, customers and society.

You develop and lead integrated communication strategies that connect internal and external audiences, ensuring that our story is clear, consistent and relevant across channels. You work closely with senior leaders, business stakeholders and colleagues across Brand, Marketing & Communications, translating strategic priorities and developments in society into compelling narratives and communication.

Roles and responsibilities

A senior communications professional who connects the outside world with what happens inside ING, and connects internal and external communications into one coherent approach.

Integrated communications

  • Develop and lead integrated internal and external communication strategies for key corporate and strategic topics.
  • Build clear narratives, messaging and communication approaches across audiences and channels.
  • Connect employee communications, leadership communications, media and external positioning rather than approaching them as separate disciplines.
  • Bring the right BMC expertise together around priority topics and drive communication from strategy through execution.

Strategic communications

  • Act as a trusted senior communications advisor to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Translate business strategy and complex developments into clear, human and compelling communication.
  • Challenge briefs and sharpen the communication objective, audience, narrative and desired impact.
  • Anticipate communication opportunities, sensitivities and reputational considerations.

Corporate reputation & societal topics

  • Lead communications on topics that are important to ING’s reputation and position in society.
  • Apply an outside-in perspective, connecting developments in society, customer expectations and stakeholder sentiment to ING’s communications.
  • Turn complex or sensitive issues into communication that is credible, relevant and understandable.
  • Ensure alignment between what we communicate internally and how ING positions itself externally.

Leadership & employee communications

  • Support senior leaders in communicating strategy, change and business priorities.
  • Develop leadership narratives, speeches, talking points and communication moments.
  • Help colleagues understand not only what is happening, but why it matters and what it means for them.
  • Create communication that strengthens understanding, engagement and connection with ING’s direction.

Orchestration & execution

  • Lead communication projects from strategy and planning through execution and evaluation.
  • Bring together stakeholders and communications disciplines around one clear approach.
  • Work closely with channel, content, media, brand, marketing and event colleagues to create maximum impact.
  • Ensure communication activities reinforce each other rather than becoming separate initiatives.
