Senior Interoperability Specialist

Team: Interoperability

Location: Remote (US)

Who we are

b.well Connected Health is ending the fragmentation of healthcare. Our platform unifies clinical data, claims, pharmacy, and wearables into a single, longitudinal health record, empowering people to take control of their health through AI-driven insights and a seamless, personalized experience. We power consumer-facing experiences for technology organizations, digital health solutions, health plans, pharmacies, and health systems. If you’re passionate about the future of healthcare, come join us!

What you’ll do

You’ll work closely with leadership to drive the success of b.well’s health information network and interoperability efforts through non-coding, technical expertise and operational leadership. As a senior contributor, you’ll manage our most complex EHR, provider, payor, health information exchange, lab, pharmacy, and telehealth onboarding, including targets where the path to data contribution isn’t yet defined. You’ll use independent judgment to establish new data connections that support company OKRs.

You’ll be the go-to resource on the team: setting standards through operational playbooks, training teammates, and reporting consistently to leadership. You’ll partner across interoperability, engineering, and external teams to safeguard sensitive data and advance b.well’s mission to connect health information for consumers.

This is a role for someone who is technically curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and takes ownership of outcomes from first conversation to go-live.

Complex onboarding leadership

  • Manage the more complex and difficult onboarding of EHRs, providers, payors, health information exchanges, labs, pharmacies, and telehealth vendors, including targets with no established playbook
  • Use sound, independent judgment to establish new data connections with external data holders, knowing when to move forward and when to escalate, and own the outcome end to end
  • Coordinate testing, validation, and production rollout of complex data connections with internal development and engineering teams before go-live

Connection monitoring & maintenance

  • Monitor the health of existing data connections, tracking connectivity, data flow, and error or failure signals, to catch degradation before it affects downstream teams or data-connection OKRs
  • Triage integrations and connections: validate sandbox and test connections, use basic API testing tools (e.g., Postman) to check endpoints and responses, and check field mapping and data formatting against expected specs
  • Troubleshoot directly with vendor technical and support teams, reading vendor API documentation and specifications (e.g., FHIR, OAuth, endpoint directories) and configuring settings in internal tools, escalating to engineering when a fix requires code-level remediation
  • Document recurring failure patterns and feed them back into onboarding playbooks

Standards, documentation & enablement

  • Create and maintain onboarding documentation and operational playbooks for repeatable processes, and recognize when a new situation merits a new playbook
  • Use AI and other technical tools to automate repeatable onboarding and documentation steps, building toward more scalable, less manual processes
  • Train team members on processes and procedures, and serve as the escalation point for complex or blocked onboarding situations
  • Help ensure the company has the API connections needed to support data-connection OKRs, handling non-technical onboarding work that supports internal development and engineering teams

Performance, reporting & continuous improvement

  • Meet team and individual KPIs, track the onboarding pipeline, and use basic queries and dashboard/BI tools to monitor backlog, success rates, and recurring failure patterns
  • Report onboarding status and metrics to leadership, and independently lead vendor meetings and calls, including early-stage, exploratory conversations with more complex targets
  • Contribute to onboarding process standardization and scalable frameworks across the interoperability team
  • Safeguard sensitive data by following security and privacy policies and training

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years in operations, onboarding, and/or interoperability coordination in the healthcare and/or technology sector
  • Experience leading repeatable processes, performing data analysis, mentoring peers, and reporting operational outcomes to leadership
  • A track record of exercising independent judgment and driving projects to completion with minimal oversight, including in ambiguous situations without an established playbook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent spoken and written English, and solid experience with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace)
  • Experience tracking work in project and ticketing tools (e.g., Jira) and CRMs, managing an onboarding pipeline, and reporting status and metrics to leadership
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently while staying flexible, dependable, and resourceful

Even better if you have

  • Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7, USCDI)
  • Advanced technical proficiency

The target salary range for this position is $100,000 – $120,000 annually and is part of a competitive total rewards package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; prescription coverage and telehealth services; short-term and long-term disability; basic and voluntary life insurance; 401(k); FSA and Dependent Care FSA; Employee Assistance Program; company-paid lab testing benefit; voluntary benefits including pet insurance and legal services; and paid time off and company holidays.
