Senior Java Developer

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with strong technical leadership skills to drive the design and delivery of complex software projects from end to end.

In this role, you will develop a deep understanding of project requirements, relevant technologies, and the feasibility of agreed timelines and commitments. You will own the technical design of the project, monitor development progress, and ensure that quality standards, deadlines, and deliverables are consistently met. You will also analyze and design systemic solutions while leveraging and implementing existing tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the development team
• Monitor the work plan, assign tasks, and coordinate team activities
• Review, support, and track the quality of deliverables
• Define and own the technical design of the project
• Perform code reviews to ensure best practices and maintainability
• Apply design patterns and sound architectural principles
• Ensure adherence to SOLID principles throughout the codebase
• Design and maintain event-driven systems

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Full Stack development, with a proven track record of building software applications end to end
• Proven experience in the insurance industry (mandatory)
• Strong expertise with the following technology stack: Java 17+, Spring / Quarkus, Apache Camel, and Drools
• Solid knowledge of SQL Server and Cosmos DB, including database model design, database performance optimization, and the development and maintenance of PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, triggers, and functions in SQL Server
• Demonstrated ability to design and develop REST APIs based on microservices architectures, using the OpenAPI specification and/or creating documentation with Swagger
• Hands-on knowledge of messaging and message queue tools such as IBM MQ and Apache Kafka
• Experience containerizing and deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with cloud solutions (preferably Microsoft Azure) and the ability to set up DevOps processes, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) using tools such as Git, Jenkins, and/or Maven
• Working knowledge of observability and monitoring tools, including Dynatrace, Application Insights (AppInsights), OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana)
• Experience with testing tools such as JMeter and Playwright
• Fluent Spanish and advanced English (written and spoken)

Experience implementing and integrating platforms or systems for Commercial Lines insurance using Duck Creek, Insurity, or similar policy administration systems
