Senior Java Engineer (Full Stack)

We are hiring a Senior Java Engineer (Full Stack) in Malaysia to build backend services in Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot, and frontends in Angular or React. Java is our core language. You will own features end to end, from the database to the user interface, and help less experienced engineers grow.

You will also keep existing systems healthy through refactoring and upgrades, such as Java-to-Kotlin or AngularJS-to-Angular migrations. The work happens in Scrum or Kanban teams that may span several countries.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs in Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot
• Develop responsive Angular or React frontends and integrate them with backend APIs
• Implement event-driven features on Apache Kafka or similar messaging
• Maintain and improve existing systems through refactoring and technology upgrades, supporting Java-to-Kotlin or AngularJS-to-Angular migrations
• Deploy and operate services on Azure or AWS with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and CI/CD
• Monitor applications, resolve production incidents and join the on-call rotation as needed
• Partner with product managers and designers in Scrum or Kanban teams
• Raise quality and secure coding practices through code reviews, guidance and AI-assisted tools

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java (or Kotlin) with Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience with Angular or React with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3; frontend depth judged case by case
• Understanding of microservices, REST API and event-driven design
• Working knowledge of Apache Kafka or other solutions, including asynchronous messaging, event processing and reliable message delivery
• Experience witth Azure or AWS with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and CI/CD pipelines for production deployments
• Track record monitoring applications, troubleshooting incidents and tracing root causes
• Experience with Postgres, MongoDB or CosmosDB
• Clean, testable, secure code using JUnit, Mockito, Jest or Cypress
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and Scrum or Kanban, plus clear English communication
• Right to work in Malaysia (visa sponsorship is not available)

Nice to have

• Java-to-Kotlin or AngularJS-to-Angular migration experience
• UI frameworks such as Material UI, Native UI or TailwindCSS
• Terraform, GitHub Actions or other Infrastructure-as-Code tooling
• Test-Driven Development (TDD)
