Senior Java Engineering Lead – Trading Technology

Cpl Recruitment are partnering with a leading global financial services organisation to recruit a Senior Java Engineering Lead for its Dublin technology team. This is a senior, hands-on position focused on building and evolving high-performance platforms supporting complex trading and derivatives environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the design and delivery of critical trading technology platforms.
• Shape architecture, engineering standards and technical direction across complex Java applications.
• Remain hands-on in solving complex engineering, performance and scalability challenges.
• Lead the development of distributed systems, microservices and event-driven solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices across performance, resilience, testing and code quality.
• Provide technical direction across Java concurrency, JVM optimisation and low-latency processing.
• Support the continued modernisation of platforms using cloud-native and container technologies.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across technology, trading, risk, quantitative and infrastructure teams.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads while promoting strong engineering practices and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Significant experience delivering and leading complex enterprise Java applications. 8-10 Years.
• Strong background in investment banking, derivatives, trading, pricing or risk technology.
• Excellent hands-on Java skills, including concurrency, multithreading, JVM profiling and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
• Knowledge of Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Low-latency or algorithmic trading experience would be highly advantageous.
• Strong CI/CD, automated testing and Agile delivery experience.
• Comfortable operating at a senior level and influencing both technical and business stakeholders.

Location & Eligibility

Dublin-based hybrid role. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Dublin and hold a minimum of Stamp 1G Spousal/Partner permission or Stamp 4 due to UK travel requirements.
