Delivering the land rights and property expertise that keep our network moving

We're looking for a Senior Land Specialist to join our team and play a leading role in securing the land rights that enable Cadent to deliver critical infrastructure, maintenance and investment projects across our network.

This is a senior specialist role responsible for providing expert land, property and valuation support across a diverse portfolio of projects. You'll lead on complex negotiations, secure land and property rights, provide strategic advice to project teams and ensure land-related risks are identified and managed effectively.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, landowners, agents, developers and framework partners, you'll help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly and in a way that protects and enhances Cadent's reputation.

Why you will love this role

  • Lead complex negotiations to secure land rights, easements, leases and purchases that enable critical infrastructure and network projects to move forward.
  • Provide trusted expert advice to project teams, influencing project design and delivery through your land, property and valuation expertise.
  • Manage complex and challenging cases involving high-value negotiations, legal issues and stakeholder interests across a variety of projects.
  • Build strong relationships with landowners, developers, local stakeholders, external advisors and framework partners to achieve the best outcomes for Cadent.
  • Shape project success from the outset by identifying land-related risks, opportunities and requirements early within the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and support others through the allocation of work, planning and forecasting workloads, and coaching colleagues and external resources to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Drive value by managing third-party suppliers, challenging costs where appropriate and ensuring value for money across land-related activities.
  • Make a visible impact by helping deliver the land rights that support the safe and efficient operation of Cadent's network, both now and in the future.

What you will bring

  • Land and property expertise – Strong knowledge of land rights, easements, land acquisition, compensation principles and the legal frameworks relating to utility infrastructure projects.
  • Complex negotiation experience – Proven ability to lead high-value and sensitive negotiations with landowners, developers, businesses, contractors and other external stakeholders.
  • Valuation and professional knowledge – Ability to provide specialist valuation, compensation and property advice across a range of project requirements.
  • Project and workload management skills – Experience planning, prioritising and coordinating multiple land-related activities across complex programmes or projects.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management skills – Experience leading internal and external resources and building effective relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness – Experience managing external suppliers and consultants, ensuring value for money and effective delivery of services.
  • Professional qualifications – Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline together with MRICS accreditation.
  • Coaching and continuous improvement mindset – Commitment to supporting colleagues, sharing expertise and driving best practice across land and property activities.

Operating within a specialist and highly influential area of the business, you'll play a key role in ensuring Cadent secures the rights, access and stakeholder support needed to deliver vital projects across our network. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise on complex projects while helping develop and strengthen our land and property capability for the future.
