About the Role
Join a real estate law practice advising developers, property owners, institutions, and investors on New York City land use and zoning matters. You will support complex development projects by interpreting zoning rules, assessing property issues, and guiding clients through approval processes.
What You'll Do
Conduct zoning due diligence for acquisitions and financings, and prepare written analyses of floor area, use, bulk, height, and setbacks.
Advise clients on development rights transactions, including air rights and zoning lot development agreements.
Manage land use applications and discretionary approvals, including rezonings, ULURP, BSA variances and special permits, environmental review, and landmark matters.
Coordinate with architects, consultants, community boards, and elected officials through public review.
Work with transactional attorneys on acquisitions and development projects, including assemblage sites, tenant buyouts, building vacates, and demolition matters.
Represent owners in DHCR proceedings, including owner applications, tenant complaints, and administrative appeals.
What We're Looking For
4 to 10 years of relevant legal experience, including hands-on NYC zoning analysis, due diligence, or land use applications.
Admission to the New York Bar and experience interpreting the NYC Zoning Resolution.
Knowledge of New York City rent stabilization law and HSTPA, plus experience with DHCR proceedings.
Experience representing landlords or owners, rather than tenants, and advising owners or developers on real estate matters.
Academic credentials from an undergraduate institution and law school.
U.S. work authorization is required.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary: $250,000 to $275,000. Visa sponsorship is not available.
