Primary Responsibilities
• Lead and independently manage translation and localization projects — primarily for video content, with some text-based assets — briefing stakeholders, building and maintaining project management artifacts, and coordinating internal and vendor execution meetings from kickoff through final delivery.
• Own the relationship with translation partners and external translation vendors, directly managing vendor execution while collaborating cross-functionally with content, product, and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Grow into a language and translation subject matter expert for the organization, with deep command of the organization's language strategy, translation approach, and guidelines; continuously refine and expand procedures, the team's knowledge guidebook, and language profiles.
• Use expertise to guide — not simply coordinate — translation and localization decisions, including making or recommending decisions to leadership on stylistic and editorial questions, while partnering with leadership on final strategic direction.
• Conduct research and develop recommendations on cultural considerations relevant to each market; determine when an outside cultural expert is needed to validate the team's approach or hypotheses, and coordinate directly with that expert when engaged.
• Guide vendors and critically verify their proposals against established translation guidelines and quality standards, including decisions on term-base approvals and medical reviewer credentials/qualifications.
• Actively contribute to the development of new workflows, including AI-driven translation and localization workflows and market-specific localization initiatives for regions outside the US.
• Serve as an advanced, hands-on user of Adobe AEM and Workfront, contributing directly to the design of new content and translation workflows during platform rollout and migration — participating in tool and process brainstorming and supporting migration-related standups (not in an administrative or system-owner capacity).
• Maintain strong working command of the organization's project and content systems (Workfront, Adobe AEM, SharePoint, and similar platforms) as they evolve, keeping project tracking, documentation, and reporting accurate through the transition to new tools.
• Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all stages of the translation and localization workflow, driving ongoing efficiency improvements.
• Proactively identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and escalate to leadership with recommended solutions.
• Take on broader content operations assignments beyond translation as needed, such as partnering with the video/studio production team on targeted process-optimization projects or building out new tracking, intake, or asset workflows.
Skills Required
• Project Management Expertise: Advanced ability to independently manage complex, multi-phase projects involving competing priorities and multiple concurrent vendors and stakeholders.
• Technical Proficiency (Advanced): Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows environment, Outlook, and SharePoint, plus the ability to quickly master new project and content management platforms (e.g., Adobe AEM, Workfront) and build effective project plans and processes even in unfamiliar tools.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating between translation vendors, content, product, and engineering teams.
• Analytical and Detail-Oriented Thinking: Able to identify inconsistencies, foresee risks, and propose solutions quickly.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
• Proactive Leadership: Independent thinker who anticipates needs, manages deadlines, and motivates others toward shared goals.
• Team-Oriented Mindset: Collaborative and approachable; builds trust and accountability among team members and vendors.
• Familiarity with Medical or Clinical Content: Understanding of healthcare terminology and workflows (helpful but not required).
• Experience Required: 5+ years in project management, content operations, or a related field.
Preferred
• Experience with translation management systems (TMS) or CAT tools.
• Familiarity with video localization workflows (subtitling, dubbing, QC review).
• Exposure to or interest in AI-driven translation and localization tools (e.g., machine translation, AI dubbing/captioning).
• Prior experience managing external language vendors or agencies.
