About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior LANSA Developer to join a long-term project in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Visual LANSA, RDML/RDMLX, IBM i (AS400) and DB2, combined with excellent SQL skills and a solid understanding of enterprise application development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising business applications, supporting integrations and ensuring the stability and performance of production systems.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring 2 days per week onsite in

Amsterdam.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Visual LANSA and RDML/RDMLX.
• Develop and maintain application screens, business logic and reusable components.
• Work with LANSA Frameworks and Repository concepts.
• Develop and optimise applications running on IBM i (AS400/iSeries).
• Manage and troubleshoot job queues, batch processing and message queues.
• Support system monitoring, production troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Write, maintain and optimise SQL queries and DB2 database operations.
• Design and maintain data models to support business requirements.
• Investigate and resolve production data issues.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Participate in Agile development activities and contribute to continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

LANSA Development

• Strong hands-on experience with Visual LANSA.
• Experience developing applications using RDML and RDMLX.
• Knowledge of LANSA Frameworks and Repository concepts.
• Experience with screen development and business logic implementation.

IBM i / AS400

• Strong experience with IBM i (AS400/iSeries).
• Experience working with DB2/400.
• Understanding of job queues, batch processing and message queues.
• Experience with system monitoring and performance troubleshooting.

SQL and Databases

• Strong SQL development skills.
• Hands-on experience with DB2.
• Experience in data modelling and database troubleshooting.
• Ability to optimise queries and resolve production data issues.

Additional Requirements

• Approximately 8–10 years of relevant IT experience.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Professional Dutch communication skills are required.
• Ability to work onsite in Amsterdam twice per week.

Desirable Skills

• RPG IV / RPG ILE.
• Financial services, banking or payments industry experience.
• API development and system integration.
