Senior Legal Counsel

With your legal expertise in Dutch and or Luxembourg funds, you will help Triodos Investment Management make sound decisions in a changing regulatory environment. You will advise investment management teams on complex legal matters and turn new laws and regulations into clear, practical guidance.

How you will make a difference

In this role, you will provide legal advice on investment management activities, so that Triodos Investment Management can manage its funds and portfolios with a clear view of legal requirements and risks.

You will monitor developments in laws and regulations and help colleagues understand what they mean in practice. You will work on both strategic and operational matters. Your advice will support policy development, fund structuring and legal awareness across the company.

To get there, you will:

• Monitor developments in relevant laws and regulations, including Wft, AIFMD, UCITS, MiFID II and SFDR.
• Follow regulatory developments from the AFM and ESMA.
• Translate these developments into clear advice on opportunities, risks and policy.
• Advise on optimizing fund structuring and legal matters related to investment management activities.
• Help manage legal issues and reduce legal risks for Triodos Investment Management.
• Provide clear and concise answers to internal stakeholders.
• Explain complex legal issues in simple language for reports and presentations.
• Work with key business stakeholders, Product Management, Risk Management, Tax, Compliance, and Board members.
• Act as a reliable point of contact for regulators when needed.

Your future colleagues

You will join the Legal & Tax Team. The team consists of a Head Legal & Tax, four Legal Counsels, two Tax Counsels and two Legal Counsels who focus on asset transactions. Together, the team works on regulatory, corporate and tax matters.

You will also work with colleagues in the wider Legal Community of Triodos Bank. These include General Legal Affairs at Triodos Bank and local legal teams in the countries where Triodos Bank operates. You will work closely with colleagues across Triodos Investment Management, including the investment management teams and other business stakeholders.

Triodos Investment Management is a wholly owned subsidiary of Triodos Bank. It has around 220 employees, more than 30 years of experience in impact investing, more than 650 direct investments across the world and around EUR 5 billion in assets under management. It manages around 20 funds and individual portfolios for professional clients. Its investments include energy and climate, inclusive finance, organic agriculture and listed companies.

• A master’s degree in Dutch law (LLM).
• Experience in Dutch and/or Luxembourg funds and experience with oversight of the legal aspects of fund structures is required and should be clearly reflected in your resume.
• Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in investment management, either as an in-house lawyer at a financial institution or at a law firm serving investment management clients.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations for investment managers, alternative investment funds, investment firms and related supervision.
• Experience with regulatory matters relating to investment funds and investment management.
• Experience working with regulators or supervisory authorities.
• A proactive approach and a clear understanding of your role within a company.
• The ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and understand their interests.
• The ability to consider the wider context when giving legal advice and understand how decisions affect the company, its clients, society, the environment and the economy.
• The ability to turn complex legal questions into clear, practical advice that helps colleagues make sound decisions and move important matters forward.
• Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written); Dutch is a strong plus.

We consider it a plus if you have:

Knowledge of corporate law and corporate governance.

• A gross salary of € 6,649 - € 8,311, based on a 40-hour workweek. The fixed annual salary is calculated by multiplying the monthly salary by 13.96, this includes a 13th month and holiday pay.
