Financial Technology

London (hybrid)

Ref: VKMAA3252

Partner Financial is working with a high-growth, international FinTech platform operating across multiple global markets. Backed by significant investment and driven by a clear mission to modernise the movement of money across borders, the business has built a scalable, technology-led ecosystem serving millions of consumers worldwide.

With an expanding global footprint and a strong focus on innovation, automation and operational excellence, the organisation continues to strengthen its finance capability to support its next phase of growth.

This opportunity sits within the central Group Finance function, reporting directly to the Deputy Financial Controller. It is a senior position offering considerable ownership and exposure beyond traditional management accounting, with responsibility for complex financial reporting, technical accounting matters, control processes and key month-end deliverables. The successful individual will be taking ownership of critical finance workstreams, providing technical guidance and deputising for the Deputy Financial Controller where required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing key Group month-end activities, including trial balance reviews, accruals management and intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Managing monthly management reporting and balance sheet controls for a US-regulated entity, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely delivery.
  • Taking ownership of complex reconciliations and control accounts, including settlement and transit accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding balances.
  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries, applying sound technical judgement to complex accounting transactions involving FX, intercompany movements, accruals and safeguarding.
  • Leading monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating aged and unusual items and ensuring appropriate resolution.
  • Analysing and interpreting monthly P&L and balance sheet movements, providing meaningful commentary and explaining key variances and underlying trends.
  • Producing financial reporting packs, including key slides and commentary for Group month-end presentations.
  • Working closely with the international Settlement and Reconciliation team, ensuring the integrity of settlement processes, reconciliations and financial controls across multiple systems.
  • Managing relationships with external auditors, coordinating audit requirements and taking end-to-end responsibility for a portfolio of smaller entity audits.
  • Supporting the wider Group audit process, handling complex audit queries and ensuring the timely delivery of supporting information.
  • Developing and strengthening financial controls, identifying weaknesses and implementing improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Driving automation and continuous improvement across day-to-day finance processes, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency.
  • Supporting the approval of regular payment runs and working closely with the Accounts Payable team to ensure appropriate financial controls are maintained.

The candidate:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with a good understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
  • Previous experience overseeing month-end processes, balance sheet controls, complex reconciliations and financial reporting across multiple entities.
  • Experience managing external audits, ideally with responsibility for coordinating and delivering smaller entity audits from start to finish.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret financial data, investigate discrepancies and provide meaningful insight into financial performance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large, complex datasets, alongside experience using major ERP systems such as NetSuite.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to make sound decisions, challenge existing processes and manage complex issues independently.
  • Previous experience within a high-growth technology or FinTech business, financial services or a larger corporate environment would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to the payments industry, safeguarding or data tools such as SQL and Databricks would also be beneficial.
