Senior Manager, Capital & Treasury

Department: Finance
Reports to: Capital & Treasury Advisor

Status: Full-time

Purpose: Reporting to the Capital & Treasury Advisor, this position will lead the day-to-day execution of Gay Lea Foods’ treasury, financial risk management, and capital allocation processes. The role is responsible for cash management, liquidity planning, debt administration, banking relationships, financial risk oversight, capital planning, business case review, investment analysis, approval coordination, and portfolio reporting. Providing the analysis, process discipline, reporting, and cross-functional coordination needed to support to enable effective decisions is a critical part of this role. Working closely with Finance, Business Units, Operations, Procurement, and external banking partners, the role will help protect margins, preserve liquidity, strengthen investment discipline, and ensure the organization has the financial capacity to execute its strategic priorities.

The role is ideal for a treasury or corporate finance professional with strong analytical judgement, practical risk management, investment evaluation experience, and the ability to build effective processes in a growing, manufacturing-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the treasury operating model, including cash management, liquidity planning, debt administration, banking governance, treasury controls, and reporting.
  • Prepare short- and medium-term liquidity forecasts, monitor borrowing capacity and covenant compliance, and recommend actions related to funding needs, surplus cash, and financial flexibility.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with banking partners, lenders, and external advisors, ensuring Gay Lea Foods has appropriate facilities, services, pricing, documentation, and execution support.
  • Identify, measure, and report financial exposures across foreign exchange, interest rates, commodities, liquidity, counterparty risk, and working capital, with a focus on practical actions that protect margins and reduce volatility.
  • Lead hedging analysis and execution where appropriate, including recommendations on instruments, timing, counterparties, approvals, documentation, and post-trade monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain treasury and financial risk policies, risk appetite measures, approval protocols, controls, and reporting standards.
  • Manage the day-to-day capital allocation process, including annual and long-range capital planning, capital request intake, templates, timelines, approval workflows, and maintenance of the consolidated capital portfolio.
  • Review and challenge business cases for completeness, strategic alignment, financial returns, key assumptions, risks, funding implications, and consistency with Gay Lea Foods’ capital allocation framework.
  • Prepare investment analysis, portfolio views, options, and decision materials to support the Advisors’ recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Coordinate capital approvals and maintain clear records of decisions, conditions, changes in scope, and required follow-up.
  • Monitor approved capital spending, forecasts, project milestones, investment KPIs, and benefits realization; identify variances and projects requiring management attention.
  • Coordinate post-investment reviews and use the findings to strengthen future business cases, investment assumptions, governance, and portfolio decisions.
  • Develop regular treasury, risk, and capital allocation reporting for senior leadership, including liquidity, debt, exposures, hedging activity, capital deployment, portfolio performance, compliance items, and emerging risks.
  • Partner with Business Finance, Controllership, Procurement, Operations, and IT/Data teams to improve cash visibility, working capital accountability, business case quality, capital reporting, and exposure management across business units.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen treasury and capital allocation processes, governance, controls, automation, banking structures, and decision-support tools as the functions mature.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
  • CPA, CFA, CTP, or another relevant professional designation
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in treasury, corporate finance, capital planning, investment analysis, risk management, banking, or a related finance role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, food, agriculture, dairy, consumer products, or other asset-intensive operating environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cash management, liquidity forecasting, debt facilities, banking products, covenant monitoring, treasury controls, and financial risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience with capital planning, business case review, investment evaluation, portfolio reporting, and financial measures such as NPV, IRR, ROIC, payback, and cost of capital.
  • Practical knowledge of foreign exchange, interest rate, commodity, counterparty, and liquidity risk, including hedging analysis and execution.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with experience developing forecasts, scenario analysis, dashboards, portfolio views, and management reporting.
  • Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional inputs, manage recurring planning cycles, and maintain disciplined approval and reporting processes.
  • Ability to communicate treasury, risk, and investment matters clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Highly analytical, commercially practical, and comfortable constructively challenging assumptions while building effective processes, policies, and reporting disciplines.
  • Experience with ERP, treasury management, banking portal, capital planning, workflow, or reporting systems. Microsoft D365 experience is an asset.
