About the Senior Manager Climate Advisory Role:

The Senior Manager will play a key role in supporting the client journey and enabling Directors, Senior Directors, and business leaders within the Climate team to deliver high-quality client engagements.

The primary focus of the role will be to support clients throughout the delivery of carbon and climate projects while also acting as a technical lead for product sustainability assessments, including Organisational Footprints, Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs), Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

This role will combine client relationship management, project leadership, and technical delivery. The Senior Manager will act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them understand and navigate product sustainability requirements, carbon accounting methodologies, environmental performance reporting, and market expectations.

Working under the strategic direction of Climate team leaders, the Senior Manager will translate agreed project scopes and client priorities into well managed workplans and deliverables. They will coordinate and engage colleagues involved in project delivery, review technical analysis and client materials, provide quality assurance, and deliver clear updates to senior leadership.

The successful candidate will bring strong client relationship management skills, project delivery experience, and product sustainability expertise. They will be comfortable leading technical workstreams, managing multiple client engagements, mentoring less experienced colleagues, and contributing directly to detailed technical analysis where required.

Senior Manager Climate Advisory Accountabilities include:

Supporting the Client Journey

  • Support clients throughout the delivery of carbon and climate projects, including organisational and product level assessments.
  • Build positive, professional, and trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary day to day point of contact for clients.
  • Develop an understanding of each client's products, operations, sustainability objectives, and commercial drivers.
  • Coordinate client information requests and manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Facilitate workshops, presentations, technical discussions, and project meetings.
  • Present complex technical findings in a clear and practical manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Help clients understand environmental impacts, carbon hot spots, improvement opportunities, and reporting requirements.
  • Identify emerging client needs and support the development of additional service opportunities.
  • Support the business in building long-term client relationships.

Carbon Footprinting and Climate Advisory Support

  • Support the delivery and review of organisational carbon footprints including Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
  • Support GHG data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Provide technical input into decarbonisation and emissions reduction projects.
  • Support climate strategy, target-setting, and sustainability reporting engagements where required.
  • Review emissions calculations completed by other team members.
  • Maintain auditable records of calculations, assumptions, methodologies, and supporting evidence.

Product Carbon Footprints, LCAs and EPDs

  • Lead the delivery of Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) and LCA assessments across a range of sectors and product categories.
  • Develop lifecycle inventory models and conduct lifecycle impact calculations to provide results and impacts as part of the preparation of LCAs.
  • Coordinate, review and validate the documentation and verification requirements relating to the generation of EPDs and product assessments.
  • Manage assumptions, allocation approaches, and calculation methodologies consistent with recognised standards and guidance provided by the evolving standards, regulations, methodologies, and industry LCA best practice

Leadership and Team Development

  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and specialist resources involved in project delivery.
  • Provide project updates, risk management, and resource planning support to senior leadership.
  • Review technical outputs and deliverables prepared by team members.
  • Mentor and support less experienced consultants.
  • Contribute to the development of methodologies, tools, templates, and internal best practices.
  • Support proposal development and business development activities where appropriate.
  • Attend, participate and contribute to conferences and training as required.

Ideal Characteristics:

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced and commercially minded climate professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent client and project leadership skills. They will be confident leading complex carbon engagements, particularly Organisational Carbon Footprints, Product Carbon Footprints, Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations.

  • They will be a trusted and credible advisor who can build strong client relationships, understand business priorities and translate complex technical findings into clear, practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences. Comfortable managing multiple engagements, they will bring a structured approach to project planning, quality assurance and delivery.

  • The successful candidate will also be a collaborative and supportive team player who enjoys mentoring colleagues, reviewing technical work and contributing to the continuous improvement of methodologies, tools and services. They will be proactive, detail oriented and solutions focused, with the confidence to identify emerging client needs and contribute to proposals and business development opportunities.

  • They will have a strong interest in how AI, data and emerging digital tools can enhance the quality, efficiency and impact of climate and sustainability services, and will be open to exploring and adopting new approaches where they add value for clients and the wider team.

  • Above all, we are looking for someone who can balance technical rigour with commercial awareness and excellent communication, helping clients make informed decisions and achieve meaningful progress on their climate and sustainability objectives.
