The Senior Manager, Complex Accounting provides strategic leadership for a large team and serves as a senior subject matter expert for complex and technical accounting matters. The Complex Accounting team partners with US-based divisions and corporate functions including Treasury, Financial Reporting, and Tax to provide oversight, technical guidance, and reporting for leases, revenue, stock comp, and other complex accounting areas.
In this role, you will be accountable for establishing effective accounting practices, developing and executing strategies to support the Finance organization, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring the successful delivery of accounting services to the divisions. The Senior Manager also plays a key role in the continued evolution of the Finance organization, including evaluating opportunities to centralize activities, leading transitions to the Finance Center, and developing scalable processes and best practices.
This hybrid role is based out of our Flower Mound, TX location. You’ll be expected to work in the office two days per week, Tuesday and Wednesday, with the flexibility to work from home on the remaining days.
What you will do
- Lead and develop the Complex Accounting team, setting priorities, providing direction, and ensuring appropriate resources to meet business and reporting needs.
- Develop and execute complex accounting strategies, ensuring consistent application of US GAAP, corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and best practices across divisions.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, including leases, revenue recognition, intangible assets, contingent consideration, stock compensation, pensions, equity investments, and other technical topics.
- Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve complex accounting issues, evaluate transactions, and provide recommendations that support business objectives.
- Oversee critical month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement reviews, SEC reporting, and related accounting conclusions.
- Maintain oversight of key controls and complex accounting processes, including lease accounting, Nakisa, impairment assessments, acquisition accounting, contingent consideration, and related disclosures.
- Lead process, system, and organizational improvements, including centralizing appropriate accounting activities, implementing scalable solutions, and driving standardization and efficiency across the organization.
- Research and interpret US GAAP and communicate complex accounting matters by developing accounting conclusions and position papers and effectively presenting risks and recommendations to Finance leadership and senior stakeholders.
What you need
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally in a global matrix structure
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience applying accounting guidance to complex transactions
Preferred:
- Active CPA
- Technical accounting or financial reporting experience
- Demonstrated experience motivating teams and developing talent

US10: $129,800 - $216,400 USD Annual

Work Flexibility
- Remote – Role allows you to work the majority to 100% of time from an alternate workplace. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location.
- Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based.
- Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category.
- Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co-located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
