The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Manager, Content Policy & Online Safety for a hybrid role based in APAC . This role blends content policy and online safety subject‑matter expertise, with a focus on sensitive content, media regulation, and emerging safety frameworks across the region. You will: Serve as a strategic advisor on content and online safety issues in APAC Work closely with Content, Product, Legal and Global Affairs teams to anticipate and navigate evolving regulatory, cultural, and societal expectations Help ensure our storytelling and product experiences for members, especially kids and families, are both creatively robust and responsibly delivered This role requires comfort with ambiguity, excellent judgment, and the ability to move quickly and autonomously while being an effective collaborator. Role Overview As Senior Manager, Content Policy & Online Safety, APAC, you will: Lead APAC‑focused content and online safety policy strategy within PSP, serving as a key regional expert on sensitive content, online safety regulation, and media frameworks Translate global policy and regulatory developments into actionable strategies and guidance for local content and product teams Provide nuanced, context‑specific advice on titles and features from concept through launch and beyond, with a focus on cultural sensitivities, societal norms, and regulatory constraints Help define and articulate Netflix’s policy positions and approach to online safety and sensitive content in APAC, particularly for kids and family viewing and games Key Responsibilities 1. Strategy & Policy Development Translate global and regional policy trends (online safety, media regulation, content standards) into clear strategies for APAC. Develop frameworks and guidance for sensitive content and online safety that can be applied consistently across APAC markets, while respecting local nuance. Contribute to broader tech and media policy work within PSP (e.g., consumer protection, cultural policy) where it intersects with content and online safety. 2. Content Policy & Creative Support Partner with APAC content teams to identify, anticipate, and navigate cultural, societal, and political sensitivities in titles. Provide local, regional and global context to creative teams, helping them navigate the full lifecycle of content (from concept and production through launch, promotion and beyond). Assess potential policy and regulatory risks associated with content and help devise creative, pragmatic solutions that protect both creative expression and the business. Support teams in understanding and complying with existing and emerging media and online safety regulations that impact content and product experiences. 3. Online Safety & Product Partnership Work closely with Product, Tech, Legal, and Global Affairs to translate online safety regulatory developments into product and policy strategy for APAC. Monitor and analyze product developments (e.g., safety tools, parental controls, classification systems, kids experiences, games) for online safety implications and share insights internally. Help design and refine programs, policies, and messaging that support safe and trusted experiences for members, particularly kids and families, across content and product surfaces. 4. Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy Engage with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, civil society, and third‑party experts in APAC on content and online safety issues. Develop clear, compelling materials and positions (briefs, talking points, submissions) that explain Netflix’s services, product features, and approach to online safety and content. Advocate for frameworks that safeguard users while supporting creative freedom and minimizing unnecessary encumbrances on content creation. 5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Thought Leadership Act as a key point of contact for Content, Communications, Marketing, Legal, Security, and Product teams on APAC content policy and online safety matters. Provide thought leadership to internal partners on evolving regulatory and cultural trends, spotting global themes and local inflection points. Strong understanding of the media and entertainment ecosystem and its regulatory landscape in APAC. Demonstrated experience working with or within large, complex organizations and navigating cross‑functional decision‑making. What Will Put You Ahead Experience in a regulator, international or regional organization, or a large multinational (ideally with in‑house policy or content experience). Deep understanding of APAC regional sensitivities (cultural, political, religious, social) and how they apply to content and online environments. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful public policy or content policy strategies, including on sensitive or high‑profile topics. Strong analytical, strategic, and creative judgment, with experience classifying and assessing content in different market contexts. Experience engaging with government bodies, industry associations, or civil society on media, tech, or online safety issues. Who You Are A strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving skills who can manage conflicting priorities and work to clear outcomes. Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment, while being a collaborative team player. Skilled at influencing and aligning diverse stakeholders and synthesizing complex viewpoints into clear, practical recommendations. An excellent communicator, able to translate technical and policy concepts for creative, legal, product, and business audiences. Intellectually curious, proactive, and entrepreneurial - energized by building and iterating in a rapidly changing policy and cultural landscape. Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines without sacrificing quality. Willing to travel within APAC and occasionally globally as needed. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about where storytelling, culture, technology, and safety intersect and who wants to help shape how millions of people across APAC experience Netflix. Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner. We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
