Senior Manager Data Science - Supply Chain & Operations – Stamford, CT (Hybrid - 3 Days In-Office)
At PMI U.S., we are building a modern nicotine business—focused on helping make a future without cigarettes a reality in America. As the U.S. businesses of Philip Morris International, we are investing in new products, science, and capabilities to provide the approximately 25 million legal age adults who still smoke with better alternatives.
Our approach is rooted in innovation, responsible marketing, and a growing U.S. footprint that spans manufacturing, technology, and commercial operations across the country.
That creates real opportunity. You’ll have the space to take ownership, develop new ideas, and contribute to work that is shaping our business and the category. We’re looking for people who are curious, collaborative, and motivated by progress—because the scale of what we’re building creates room to grow in different directions.
Our beautiful HQ in Stamford, CT is just steps away from the Stamford Metro-North Train Station and easily accessible from NYC.
Your ‘day to day’:
This leader drives data-driven strategy and execution for the Operations function in a consumer packaged goods (CPG) company. The role blends strategic insight with hands-on analytics to optimize performance across supply chain & manufacturing, order-to-cash, and demand planning & forecasting. In a player-coach capacity, the Senior Manager leads a small team (2 analysts) while personally delivering key analyses and recommendations to guide operational decision-making.
- Hybrid - 3 days in-office (Stamford, CT HQ) / 2 days remote per week.
- Serve as a player-coach leading a team of analysts, developing advanced data science models (machine learning, mathematical optimization, time-series forecasting) across end-to-end supply chain, manufacturing, inventory and order-to-cash.
- Partner with Data Engineering to deploy scalable algorithms in Databricks and Snowflake, ensuring pipelines are architected for minimal compute footprint and egress cost control.
- Bridge raw enterprise data into production data science solutions that directly influence supply chain resilience and lead-time optimization.
- Deliver actionable insights across supply chain, manufacturing, order-to-cash, and demand planning processes to improve operational efficiency and performance.
- Develop and own the Operations analytics roadmap (metrics, dashboards, advanced analysis) to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective integration of data from ERP and Salesforce systems, collaborating with IT on data architecture and flow enhancements for a holistic view of Operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, IT) to identify opportunities and translate data findings into strategic recommendations.
- Lead and mentor a small team of 2 analysts, fostering a high-performance, data-driven culture.
Who we’re looking for:
-
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Commutable distance to Stamford, CT.
- 8+ years of quantitative experience in Data Science, Operations Research or Advanced Analytics, with a clear track record in Supply Chain, Logistics or Manufacturing Operations.
- Deep technical fluency in Python or R, advanced SQL and distributed computing environments (Databricks, Spark, Snowflake).
- Direct experience designing optimization models, for multi-echelon inventory, demand forecasting and factory throughput.
- Proven awareness of cloud FinOps principles - optimizing query performance, cluster right-sizing and managing compute/egress overhead.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP or Oracle) and Salesforce CRM, including conceptual knowledge of data flows between these enterprise systems.
- Data architecture and integration influence (requirements definition, roadmap ownership).
- KPI design, performance management, and continuous improvement analytics.
- Cross-functional stakeholder management and influence.
- Team leadership and coaching (player–coach model).
- Advanced degree in business, analytics, or a related field (MBA or MS) and/or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma).
Annual Base Salary Range: $176,000 - $220,000
What we offer:

- We have implemented Smart Work, a hybrid model of working that promotes flexibility in the workplace.
- Seize the freedom to define your future and ours. We’ll empower you to take risks, experiment and explore.
- Be part of an inclusive, diverse culture where everyone’s contribution is respected; Collaborate with some of the world’s best people and feel like you belong.
- Pursue your ambitions and develop your skills with a global business – our staggering size and scale provides endless opportunities to progress.
- Take pride in delivering our promise to society: To improve the lives of millions of smokers.
