About the role

Jeppesen ForeFlight is one of the largest software development companies in Gothenburg. We build crew and operations optimization solutions for the world’s leading airlines. As we scale our SaaS offering, our deployment and DevOps capabilities are becoming central to how we deliver value, securely and consistently, to customers around the world.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead our global DevOps team. You will manage a team of senior engineers across Gothenburg, Bangalore and Montreal, including a Senior Deployment and Security Architect. The team owns the customer deployment of our standardized Configuration Environment, deployment architecture across AWS and on-prem based infrastructure, and the security posture toward customers.

The team supports today’s configuration environments and, over time, takes growing ownership of where they are heading. You will be the business-side voice of our delivery organization toward the architects who build the platform, helping make our products easier and faster to implement – including the cross-functional program to accelerate implementations.

You will report to the Global DAO or DAP lead. You will serve both product areas as well as our post-production team, PCS. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be close enough to the technology to back up your senior engineers, remove obstacles and make good calls on architecture trade-offs.

What you’ll do

• Lead, coach and grow a global team across three sites and time zones, building a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Support and back up your senior architects and engineers. Clear blockers, shape priorities together with a Product Owner and represent the team’s technical needs in the wider organization.
• Set the direction for deployment, CI/CD and security architecture, including the migration from GitLab on VMs to GitHub-based pipelines and the move toward Kubernetes-driven, cloud-based deployments.
• Balance demands from different product lines through transparent prioritization, capacity planning and clear communication.
• Act as the business-side owner of the Configuration Environment direction together with a Product Owner: define high-level requirements for what our own and our customers’ developers must be able to do, prioritize by value to projects and customers, and act as a counterweight to purely technical perspectives in dialogue with the platform architecture organization.
• Gather input from implementation teams, global SMEs and developers through regular forums, and turn it into clear priorities and feedback on the solution.
• Be a driving partner in the JCT acceleration program, helping ensure deployment and development-environment improvements shorten implementation time. Report status to the local DAO leadership team and to global leadership as required.
• Work with Product Architects and engineering leads to turn architecture and security improvements into adopted practice.
• Support customer-facing security and architecture discussions, questionnaires and audits, together with your team.
• Drive operational excellence, including reliability, security by design, documentation and ways of working. Use AI where it makes the team more effective.
• Recruit, onboard and develop talent, and build team identity across sites.
• Work with external consulting partners to scale the team quickly, including selecting candidates and defining scope of work.

What you bring

Essential

• Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally distributed across countries and cultures.
• Strong technical background in DevOps, cloud deployment or platform engineering, with enough depth to engage in design discussions and support senior specialists.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes and containers, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab) and security fundamentals such as IAM and authentication/authorization.
• Excellent stakeholder management across product, delivery and customer-facing teams.
• Ability to influence without formal authority and to negotiate priorities with architecture and product organizations.
• Experience with agile ways of working and continuous improvement.
• Advanced English, spoken and written.

Valuable

• MSc or BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with security and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR) and customer security due diligence.
• Experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL environments.
• Familiarity with Jeppesen Crew or Operations planning applications.
• Experience leading change, such as tooling migrations and a shift from VM-based to cloud-native delivery.
