In this position...
The Senior Manager, Fulfillment & Logistics Operations is a senior leadership role accountable for the end-to-end fulfillment, logistics, and parts supply performance of the Project Operations & Performance value stream. This leader sets the direction for inventory and supply planning, parts replenishment, warehousing, distribution, and outbound product shipping, and owns the service, cost, and working capital outcomes of the network. The role also delivers the digital capabilities that give customers real-time visibility into parts inventory, order status, and shipment information, making fulfillment a differentiator in the customer experience. Partnering with Product Creation & Industrialization, Finance, Sales, and Procurement, this leader combines deep supply chain and logistics expertise with change leadership and the ability to build high-performing teams, delivering measurable business impact. [Scope: add annual logistics and inventory spend, number of facilities and 3PL partners, and team size.]
What you'll do...
1. Strategy & Transformation
• Own the fulfillment and logistics strategy across the Project Operations & Performance value stream, aligned with growth and customer experience goals.
• Lead transformation from concept to measurable results, including integration with Product Creation & Industrialization.
• Champion the Voice of Customer, resolve issues quickly, and incorporate insights into product, service, and fulfillment improvements.
2. Parts Supply, Inventory & Warehousing
• Lead end-to-end spare parts planning, inventory, and distribution, balancing availability, cost-to-serve, and working capital.
• Optimize inventory through segment-specific safety stock and reorder strategies, procurement controls, and clearance of slow-moving stock.
• Hold warehouse partners accountable for inventory accuracy, productivity, and safety.
• Partner with Finance to improve inventory velocity and the cash conversion cycle.
3. Outbound Logistics & Delivery
• Own delivery performance from factory release to customer or site, establishing service targets and driving perfect-order execution.
• Manage carrier, freight forwarder, and 3PL relationships, including contracts, rates, capacity, mode selection, and performance reviews.
• Ensure battery energy storage shipments meet hazardous materials and oversize/overweight transport requirements, including DOT, packaging, labeling, documentation, and permits.
• Coordinate production, shipping, installation, and site readiness across Sales, Manufacturing, Customer Project Teams, and Finance; resolve delays, damage claims, and exceptions.
• Reduce freight costs and lead times through route optimization, load consolidation, and standardized, system-integrated workflows.
4. Digital Capabilities & Customer Visibility
• Deliver customer self-service access to parts availability, consumption, order status, shipment tracking, and estimated delivery.
• Partner with IT, Product, and Sales to connect ERP, planning, warehouse, and carrier data through customer portals and API/EDI integrations.
• Provide proactive alerts for delays, backorders, and delivery changes; measure adoption, satisfaction, and reductions in order-status inquiries.
• Replace manual processes with automated workflows using SAP, advanced planning systems, and integrated data.
5. Supplier & Production Alignment
• Partner with Procurement to monitor Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier performance and mitigate material risks before they disrupt production.
• Align factory priorities with high-value customer orders and strategic inventory needs.
6. Leadership, Performance & Continuous Improvement
• Build and develop a high-performing fulfillment, logistics, and supply chain team.
• Present performance, risks, and investment cases to senior leadership and align cross-functional stakeholders.
• Own KPIs such as OTIF, forecast accuracy, inventory turns, backorders, fill rate, lead time, and cost-to-serve; quantify the financial and operational impact of improvements.
• Improve service and field performance through shorter repair cycles, higher first-time-fix rates, and greater product reliability.
• Lead change adoption and apply Lean and Six Sigma methods to eliminate waste and reduce fulfillment lead times.
