Job Description:
TD Wealth, Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the Wealth businesses to design, implement, maintain and monitor effective internal controls and ensure business activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite and comply with external regulatory requirements.
The team is responsible for ensuring timely and consistent implementation – across all Wealth Canada businesses – of all risk, control and governance programs, initiatives, policies and strategic business projects. The Wealth G&C team acts as the primary contact for the Wealth Canada businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each Wealth Canada business line. The team works together with the business leaders to implement Wealth-wide G&C methodologies, policy frameworks, standards and practices and are key members of enterprise projects / programs requiring Wealth representation.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the AVP, Wealth, Road To Strong, the Senior Manager will lead governance over the Wealth Road to Strong portfolio and its underlying enterprise risk and regulatory programs.
The role will provide integrated oversight and effective challenge of program implementation and delivery across the Wealth lines of business. Working with business leaders, enterprise program owners and control partners, the Senior Manager will translate enterprise standards and program requirements into clear business impacts, confirm ownership and timelines, and monitor performance, risks and dependencies. The Senior Manager will represent Wealth on enterprise committees and working groups, helping to ensure the Wealth perspective is considered, and enterprise decisions are translated into required actions. The role will also provide consolidated program-level reporting to the AVP, escalate material concerns and support informed management decisions and sustainable program outcomes.
Other responsibilities include:
- Govern the Wealth Road to Strong portfolio, setting the integrated roadmap and priorities required to deliver its overall mandate.
- Direct the delivery of underlying enterprise risk and regulatory programs within Road To Strong, translating enterprise standards into coordinated implementation across the Wealth lines of business.
- Represent Wealth on enterprise committees and working groups, communicating business impacts, bringing forward the Wealth perspective and translating decisions into clear actions and accountabilities.
- Oversee performance management across Road to Strong and its underlying programs, including Risk Appetite Statement measures, Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators, performance against thresholds and accountable actions.
- Govern the Road to Green process by monitoring progress against established remediation plans, challenging accountable owners and escalating risks, barriers or missed commitments that could affect delivery.
- Provide integrated Wealth and enterprise reporting across the Road to Strong portfolio, highlighting overall performance, progress across underlying programs, emerging risks, areas of concern and required management decisions.
- Provide executive level reporting program updates to the AVP, clearly articulating overall status, key developments, material risks, decisions required and positions of recommended actions.
- Provide governance oversight of complex, cross-functional remediation and special projects, including monitoring milestones, dependencies, accountabilities and delivery risks through sustainable closure.
Job Requirements
- The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of prior experience in financial services and have related experience in the regulatory environment, risk management, governance, and controls.
- University degree is considered an asset.
- Superior communication skills with experience in writing policy and/or procedures and the ability to communicate information and key messages in a clear and compelling way to suit different audiences including executives.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, effectively interact, influence and motivate individuals at all levels of the organization to make an impact.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills and ability to effectively manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities.
- A logical and strategic thinker with strong critical reasoning skills.
- Self-motivated, resourceful team player with high energy and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable leading through transformational change and recognized as a champion for continuous improvement.
- Experience as a people leader focused on a strong coaching culture, talent development and employee experience through recognition.
- Risk, Audit, and/or Compliance experience (financial services industry preferred).
- Exceptional personal integrity to manage access to sensitive information.
- The workplace model is 4 days in the office.
