Senior Manager Operations Planning (Up to 17 Months Temporary Opportunity)

In this role you’ll:

• Shape operational and maintenance outcomes across the design and delivery of Sydney Metro West, bringing a practical rail operations lens to project decisions.
• Review and challenge designs, drawings and technical documentation to ensure stations and infrastructure are operable, accessible and maintainable.
• Identify operational risks and requirements early, providing practical advice and assurance to support effective project outcomes.
• Partner with engineers, project teams, technical specialists, commercial teams and operators to navigate complex issues and develop workable solutions.
• Influence key stakeholders and project decisions, translating complex operational and technical information into clear, practical advice.
• Assess operational options and project requirements to support informed decision-making, whole-of-life outcomes and value for money.

This is a temporary Transport Senior Service Manager (TSSM) opportunity until 31/3/28, with the potential to extend. Please see the role description and Information Pack for more information.

About you

You understand how railways operate and, importantly, what’s needed to keep them safely and efficiently operating and well maintained. You bring strong rail operations or maintenance experience, ideally supported by experience in a major project environment, and you’re comfortable navigating technical drawings and documentation without needing to be the technical engineer.

Proactive and detail-focused, you can spot issues, ask the right questions and work collaboratively to resolve them. You’re a confident communicator who builds relationships and influences practical outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
