Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Position summary
The Senior Manager, Project Management leads large, high-visibility strategic initiatives across our Health Systems segment. These may include customer-facing programs such as our national health system summit, initiatives tied to policy changes, and other strategic priorities that emerge throughout the year.
This person is the single point of accountability for getting these programs done on time and done well. They bring structure to complex, matrixed work, keep many stakeholders aligned, and push for results. Above all, they turn project status into clear, visual stories that help leaders see where things stand and what decisions are needed.
Key responsibilities
Initiative leadership
- Lead end-to-end project management for a portfolio of large, high-visibility initiatives across the Health Systems segment, such as our national health system summit, policy-driven changes, and other strategic priorities for the year.
- Partner with executive sponsors to define scope, goals, success measures, workplans, and timelines.
- Manage several initiatives at once, balancing priorities and resources as the portfolio evolves.
Planning and delivery
- Plan and deliver initiatives from kickoff through execution and close-out, including customer-facing programs and events.
- Coordinate across sales, marketing, solutions, executive, and operations teams to deliver seamless results.
- Track milestones, budgets, dependencies, and outcomes, and report on results when each initiative closes.
Execution and accountability
- Hold cross-functional teams to timelines and commitments; follow up persistently and escalate when needed.
- Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early and drive them to resolution.
- Run effective project meetings, working sessions, and decision forums.
Status reporting and visual storytelling
- Build and present project readouts, status updates, and executive summaries for senior leaders.
- Turn complex project data into clear, visual stories: dashboards, timelines, and one-page summaries that show progress, risks, and decisions needed.
- Tailor messages for different audiences, from working teams to the executive leadership team.
Stakeholder management
- Build strong relationships across a highly matrixed organization and influence without direct authority.
- Align stakeholders with competing priorities around shared goals and decisions.
Process and standards
- Establish and improve project management standards, templates, and tools for the segment.
- Capture lessons learned and apply them to future initiatives and events.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of project or program management experience, including leading multiple high-visibility initiatives at the same time.
- Proven success working in a large, highly matrixed organization.
- Experience building and presenting project readouts and status updates to senior and executive audiences.
- Strong visual communication skills, with advanced PowerPoint and experience creating dashboards and executive-ready visuals.
- Track record of keeping teams on schedule and driving accountability without direct authority.
- Working knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana, or similar).
- Willingness to travel for customer events (estimated up to 20%).
Preferred qualifications
- PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification.
- Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical distribution, or health system environments.
- Experience managing large customer-facing events or conferences.
- Familiarity with healthcare policy or regulatory change initiatives.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Core competencies
- Visual storytelling: makes complex status simple and compelling at a glance.
- Drive for results: pushes for outcomes, holds people to commitments, and doesn't let deadlines slip.
- Influence and collaboration: builds trust and alignment across functions and levels.
- Executive presence: communicates with clarity and confidence to senior leaders.
