Show job description

The Senior Manager - Sales Reconciliation & Accounting Integrity is accountable for protecting the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of Store sales accounting across Walmart Mexico, regardless of whether the SAP CAR Journal Entry Close is performed in Store or through the centralized model. This role leads the upstream reconciliation capability that validates interface integrity, accounting matching, aged reconciling items, and financial exceptions, enabling a controlled handoff into Journal Entry Close and downstream Accounts Receivable reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the strategy for Sales Reconciliation and accounting integrity across centralized and non-centralized Stores.
  • Own E2E visibility of sales interface integrity, reconciliation status, accounting matching, aged reconciling items, and financial exceptions prior to Journal Entry Close.
  • Ensure consistent financial support for Stores and Store Operations while the network transitions from Store-executed close to the centralized Cash Office operating model.
  • Partner with Retail Accounting, Controllership, Cash & Treasury, Electronic Payments, Financial Services, Product, and Tech to resolve upstream defects affecting Store Close or downstream reconciliation.
  • Establish governance, service expectations, escalation paths, and performance measures for reconciliation activities supported by Walmart and Back Office teams.
  • Lead governance of sales reconciliation, aged reconciling items, financial exceptions, and resolution of accounting differences across centralized and non-centralized Store environments.
  • Identify recurring interface, data, and accounting issues; sponsor corrective action plans and route structural opportunities to Controls and Transformation.
  • Provide timely visibility to R2R and Home Office leadership on material risks, aged reconciling items, recurring failures, and Store-impacting issues.
  • Coordinate with the Centralized and Set Up teams to confirm the financial readiness of Stores scheduled for migration and protect the quality of the operational handoff.
  • Maintain sufficient process knowledge and operational readiness to protect Store Operations during service disruptions, transitions, or business continuity events.
  • Develop leadership capability and clear accountability across teams supporting Sales Reconciliation and accounting integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Eight or more years of experience in Record to Report, Retail Accounting, reconciliations, Shared Services, or Finance Transformation.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and resolving complex accounting, interface, or reconciliation issues.
  • Advanced English proficiency and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP CAR, SAP, Retail Sales Accounting, open-item management, or high-volume Store environments.
  • Experience in centralized, outsourced, or managed-service operating models.
  • Relevant professional certifications in Accounting, Management Accounting, or Continuous Improvement, such as CPA, CMA, Lean Six Sigma, or local equivalent, are considered a plus but are not required. Demonstrated experience leading complex Retail Accounting, Record to Report, reconciliation, and financial-integrity processes will be prioritized.
  • Professional certifications are valued as evidence of technical knowledge and continued professional development; however, they are not mandatory requirements. Relevant experience, leadership capability, business judgment, and demonstrated results in complex finance environments will remain the primary selection criteria.

    Strategic Leadership Expectations

    • Own the E2E financial integrity of Store sales and reconciliation processes across Walmart Mexico.
    • Demonstrate strong Retail Finance, R2R, and Controllership acumen when evaluating business issues and accounting impact.
    • Connect Store sales, accounting interfaces, Journal Entry Close, Accounts Receivable, and downstream reconciliation as one E2E process.
    • Influence decisions across Stores, Store Operations, Home Office, Controllership, Product, Tech, Treasury, and Financial Services.
    • Use data, materiality, business impact, and risk assessment to prioritize issues and support executive decisions.
    • Establish clear governance and accountability across Walmart Middle Office and Back Office teams.
    • Lead accounting and operating-model transformation while protecting service continuity and financial integrity.
    • Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, coaching, and clear performance expectations.
