Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Responsible Sourcing & Communications, is responsible for executing and continuously enhancing West’s global Responsible Sourcing program in alignment with corporate sustainability goals, procurement strategy, and regulatory requirements.
This role supports the development of governance frameworks, supplier engagement strategies, and ESG performance management processes to ensure responsible sourcing principles are embedded across the global supply base.
The Senior Manager Responsible Sourcing & Communications also supports and executes the communication strategy for the global procurement organization, ensuring clear, consistent, and effective messaging for internal stakeholders and supplier partners to drive transparency, engagement, and alignment with key initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support development and execution of West’s global procurement Responsible Sourcing strategy in alignment with corporate sustainability objectives and procurement priorities.
- Embed responsible sourcing principles across all stages of the supplier lifecycle.
- Establish clear policies, standards, and KPIs to evaluate supplier ESG performance and ensure robust governance frameworks.
- Build and oversee a comprehensive supplier sustainability and responsible sourcing program, including assessments, audits, and corrective action processes.
- Partner with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in human rights, environmental stewardship, labor practices, ethical business conduct, and sustainable materials management.
- Support development and execution of a responsible sourcing risk model aligned with enterprise risk management frameworks to proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Support supplier capability building through training, workshops, and joint‑value creation initiatives focused on sustainability.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Quality, Legal, Supply Chain, ESG/Sustainability, Compliance, and business unit leaders to integrate responsible sourcing into category strategies and business decisions.
- Serve as the subject‑matter expert on responsible sourcing requirements for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Support inclusion and continuous improvement of sustainability and responsible sourcing clauses in supplier contracts and templates.
- Develop and enhance tools, dashboards, and analytics to support ESG data collection, reporting, and performance tracking across the supply base.
- Monitor global regulatory developments (e.g., CSRD, UFLPA, EUDR, CSDDD) and translate requirements into practical supplier engagement and compliance actions.
- Lead development of tools, analytics, and digital solutions to simplify ESG data collection and reporting across the supply base.
- Develop and lead the communication strategy for the global procurement organization that defines how procurement initiatives are communicated internally and across the business.
- Create and manage clear and compelling content for internal portals, newsletters, leadership briefings, trainings, announcements, and supplier-facing materials.
- Support communication for supplier facing initiatives including onboarding requirements, quality expectations, sustainability standards, and relationship development activities to reinforce West’s high reliability culture.
- Provide communication support during sourcing transitions, supply chain changes, or global disruptions to ensure employees and partners receive timely, accurate information.
Additional Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and lead a high performing Responsible Sourcing & Communications team.
- Plan and drive effective recruitment, retention and competency-based performance management practices fostering culture of accountability, continuous learning and cross functional partnerships.
- As a member of extended Global Procurement Leadership Team, drive and input to function wide strategy and its effective execution.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, Procurement or Supply Chain or equivalent qualification or professional accreditation and relevant experience.
Work Experience
- 10+ years of experience in a Global Multi-National GMP sourcing and manufacturing environment, in procurement, sustainability or supply chain and at leadership team level.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of efficient global procurement organizations within same or similar multinational industry to support the growth and evolution of the global procurement organization.
- Capability to build influential partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers to drive results for West.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret supplier data, identify risks or gaps, and translate insights into actionable improvement plans.
- A successful record of leading cross-functional teams to drive results.
- Familiarity with digital procurement tools, supplier risk platforms, or sustainability reporting systems is preferred, especially within regulated industries like pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
- High drive to operate with integrity, focus, and clarity in an environment of ambiguity to drive change and improvement.
- Ability to leverage standard business applications for communicating, presenting and analyzing.
- Adaptable to a multicultural environment, valuing diversity while having ability to manage a geographically dispersed team.
- Brings strong storytelling and writing skills with the ability to explain complex procurement topics in a clear, compelling way.
- Solid understanding of procurement or supply‑chain concepts.
- Demonstrated experience supporting change‑management or enterprise‑wide communication initiatives across cross‑functional teams.
- Communicator who is passionate about clarity, alignment, and elevating the visibility and impact of procurement.

Pay Transparency (Ireland Only):
The annual base salary range for this position is €111,500.00 - €141,800.00. Total target compensation is determined using objective and gender-neutral criteria, including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, market benchmarks, geographic location, and the scope and responsibilities of the role.
This position may be eligible for variable compensation and other incentive programs in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans within the country of employment. In addition, team members are eligible to participate in the company’s benefits and total rewards programs applicable to their location and employment status.
