About Turn/River Turn/River Capital is a private equity firm that applies a proprietary growth engineering strategy to investing, partnering with software businesses to accelerate growth and build enduring value. The firm’s team of equal parts investors and operators provides hands-on operational support and the flexible capital to systematically scale marketing, sales and customer success at its portfolio companies. Founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, Turn/River has $5.6bn in committed capital and invests globally with a focus on North America and Europe. About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Talent Development & Performance to help build the systems that enable people to ramp quickly, perform at a high level, and continue growing throughout their careers at Turn/River. Sitting on our People Team and reporting to the Head of People, this person will own several of the firm’s most important talent programs, including immersive onboarding and learning, performance management, career development, and manager enablement. This is a hands-on builder role for someone who has seen what excellent talent practices look like in a high-performance organization and is excited to create the right version for a growing firm - not simply inherit established programs. You’ll work closely with leaders and subject matter experts across the firm to capture what great looks like here and translate that into practical, engaging development experiences. You’ll also help evolve how we approach performance and growth so that expectations, feedback, development, and career progression are meaningfully connected. Key Responsibilities Own the strategy, design, and execution of firm-wide onboarding and talent development programs for new and tenured employees. Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to capture institutional knowledge and translate it into practical learning experiences, including live training, cohort-based programs, case studies, playbooks, and self-guided resources. Own and evolve the firm’s performance management process, including annual reviews, mid-year check-ins, manager enablement, calibration, and supporting systems. Partner on career development and leveling, helping translate career frameworks into clear expectations, development priorities, and meaningful growth conversations. Develop tools and programs that strengthen manager effectiveness, including feedback, coaching, and employee development. Identify firm-wide and team-specific development needs and create targeted workshops, trainings, lunch & learns, or other bespoke learning experiences. Support talent reviews, development planning, and succession thinking for critical roles and high-impact talent. Measure the effectiveness of talent programs and continuously improve them based on employee and manager feedback. Contribute selectively to broader People initiatives related to talent strategy and organizational effectiveness. Qualifications 8+ years of experience across Talent Development, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, People Development, or a related discipline. Experience owning multiple aspects of the talent lifecycle, ideally including learning and development, performance management, career development, and/or manager development. Proven experience designing and implementing high-quality onboarding and development programs from strategy through execution. Ability to translate complex or highly specialized knowledge into clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences. Experience supporting or owning performance management processes and connecting performance, feedback, and development. Strong facilitation, presentation, and written communication skills. Strong judgment and credibility working with senior leaders and highly accomplished professionals. Highly organized, hands-on, and comfortable building from the ground up in a lean People organization. Experience in or meaningful exposure to private equity, investment management, banking, or related financial services - including through consulting or professional services - strongly preferred. Location San Francisco, hybrid work model. Onsite commitment is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Compensation The annual base salary for this role is $227,500 - $237,500, taking into account numerous variable factors considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.
