Position Purpose:
The Senior Manager/Associate Director, Legal Operations will be responsible for supporting the execution and continuous improvement of Stoke’s Legal & Compliance Department, including managing the day-to-day infrastructure and operations of the Legal & Compliance Department and driving operational excellence through process improvement, reporting, training, and departmental support initiatives. This position will report into the VP, Corporate Legal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with the Legal & Compliance team and cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance and IT, to ensure legal and compliance initiatives are effectively implemented and aligned with business objectives
- Manage Legal & Compliance department-wide budgeting and financial analysis, including outside counsel budgeting, accrual and forecasting
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental processes, procedures, and workflows
- Support and maintain the Legal & Compliance teams IT solutions and AI initiatives and proactively identify new tools for department use
- Identify, implement and oversee opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Create metrics/trends on KPIs to track effectiveness and efficiency
- This role will be expected to take on additional assignments and responsibilities as may be needed to support the Legal & Compliance team and broader business objectives. Responsibilities may change, expand, or shift over time based on organizational priorities, business growth, process improvements, technology implementations, and evolving legal or regulatory requirements
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of legal operations, legal administration, legal project management, or corporate legal department experience
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or life sciences experience
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Experience supporting in-house legal departments and with outside counsel management
- Experience with contract management, e-billing and AI platforms (ideally including Brightflag and Agiloft)
- Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced corporate environment
- Solutions-oriented problem-solving skills and sound data driven decision-making ability
Location(s):
Stoke is located in Bedford, MA, and will be moving to a new location in Waltham, MA by the end of 2026. This is a hybrid position (2-3 days in office) currently based in Bedford and will later be based in Waltham.

The anticipated salary range for this role at the Senior Manager level is $163,000 - $196,000 and at the Associate Director level is $180,000 - $214,000. The final offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including role scope, experience and qualifications, education, market benchmarks, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, Stoke offers an annual bonus and equity participation.
