Let's connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the ILS Actuarial team at our headquarters in Hannover / Germany, join us on a permanent basis, commencing at the earliest possible date as a Senior Mathematician Insurance-Linked Securities.

You can look forward to

  • Take responsibility for the quantitative analysis of natural catastrophe risks using Verisk vendor models
  • Assess model, portfolio and loss data and derive robust loss assumptions for reinsurance and ILS transactions
  • Model and evaluate Catastrophe Bonds and ILS investments
  • Work closely with our risk experts to discuss model results, uncertainties and risk drivers
  • Take technical responsibility for natural catastrophe-related topics at the interface between reinsurance and capital markets

You come equipped with

  • A degree in Mathematics, Physics or Actuarial Mathematics with excellent results
  • Several years of professional experience in actuarial roles within the reinsurance industry, for example as a Risk Analyst, Natural Catastrophe Modeller, Risk Manager, or in a comparable quantitative role
  • Experience in using established natural catastrophe models, particularly Verisk (AIR)
  • Experience in analysing, validating and interpreting model results for risk and capital market decisions
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience in analysing and preparing complex datasets; knowledge of Python, R or SQL is an advantage
  • Fluent German and English language skills
  • A structured approach to analysing complex topics, with the ability to challenge results critically, identify key relationships, adapt quickly to new situations and communicate findings clearly
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, contribute your perspective to technical discussions and work with colleagues to develop effective solutions for complex challenges
