# Mechanical Engineer – HVAC (PE Licensed) **Location:** California (specific office location to be confirmed with client) **Experience:** 5–10 years **License:** Professional Engineer (PE) required **Job Type:** Full-Time --- ## About the Opportunity We're looking for a licensed Mechanical Engineer who wants more than a stamp and a stack of drawings — someone ready to shape the mechanical systems of tomorrow's buildings while shaping their own career path toward leadership. This is a firm where engineers are known by name, mentorship is built into the week (not squeezed in), and there's a real, visible track to principal and ownership for people who want it. If you're a PE with a strong HVAC background who's ready to take on more complex projects, mentor junior staff, and have a genuine say in how the firm grows — we want to talk to you. --- ## What You'll Do - Lead mechanical/HVAC design for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and/or industrial projects from concept through construction administration - Perform and oversee load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping design, and energy modeling - Ensure designs meet California Title 24, ASHRAE standards, and applicable building codes - Review and stamp drawings and calculations as the engineer of record - Collaborate directly with architects, contractors, and clients — often as the primary technical point of contact - Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers, reviewing their work and helping them grow toward licensure - Contribute to proposals, client relationships, and business development as your role expands - Help shape internal standards, tools, and processes — your ideas carry real weight here --- ## What You Bring - Active California PE license (Mechanical) - 5–10 years of HVAC design experience in a consulting engineering environment - Proficiency with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or equivalent load/energy modeling software - Strong working knowledge of Title 24 energy compliance and ASHRAE 90.1/62.1 - Experience with Revit/AutoCAD MEP; BIM coordination experience a plus - A track record of mentoring or a genuine interest in developing others - Excellent communication skills — you can explain a design decision to a client as clearly as to a junior engineer --- ## Why This Firm **Culture that's actually lived, not just posted on a wall** This is a close-knit, collaborative team where senior staff make a point of being accessible — no closed-door hierarchy, no "figure it out yourself" culture. Expect open floor plans (literal and figurative), regular knowledge-sharing sessions, and a genuine investment in work-life balance. Flexible schedules and hybrid work are supported, not just tolerated. **A real succession plan** Many firms talk about growth; this one has built the actual pathway. There's a structured track from Senior Engineer → Associate → Principal, with ownership/equity opportunities for those who want to build a long-term future here. Leadership is actively planning for the next generation of firm owners — and that could be you. If your goal is to eventually run projects, run teams, or run the business itself, this is a place built to get you there. **Mentorship both ways** You'll be mentored by senior principals with decades of HVAC design experience, while also mentoring the engineers coming up behind you. Professional development isn't an afterthought — continuing education, PE exam support for staff working toward licensure, and conference attendance are part of how the firm invests in its people. **Meaningful, varied work** Projects span multiple sectors, so you won't be stuck doing the same building type for years — you'll build a broad, resume-defining portfolio while working with a team that genuinely enjoys solving hard problems together. --- ## Compensation & Benefits - Competitive salary, commensurate with experience (details provided upon application) - Performance bonuses - Medical, dental, and vision insurance - 401(k) with company match - PE license renewal and professional development support - Generous PTO and flexible/hybrid work arrangements - Clear path toward Associate and Principal-level advancement --- --- *This firm is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.*
