The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) is a field-based scientific expert and key member of the Medical Affairs team. This individual will build trusted relationships with gastroenterology thought leaders, investigators, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions to facilitate scientific exchange, gather actionable insights, and support evidence generation. As a Sr MSL supporting our emerging GI portfolio, you'll have the opportunity to build influential scientific partnerships, shape Medical Affairs strategy, and play a visible role in preparing for the successful launch of tegoprazan. This role will have opportunities to work closely with Medical Affairs and R&D leadership and contribute to broader scientific and strategic initiatives based on individual expertise, interests, and organizational needs. Early engagement activities will be driven by scientific priorities and key stakeholder relationships, with geographic responsibilities evolving as the team expands.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and maintain peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national, regional, and emerging gastroenterology thought leaders.
  • Conduct scientific exchange regarding GERD, relevant treatment paradigms, emerging evidence, clinical data, investigational compounds, and the evolving therapeutic landscape.
  • Provide accurate, balanced, evidence-based scientific and medical information and respond appropriately to unsolicited medical information requests.
  • Develop strategic engagement plans for priority experts and institutions.
  • Maintain deep expertise in GERD, tegoprazan, P-CABs, existing therapies, emerging treatments, clinical guidelines, and relevant competitive scientific developments.
  • Identify emerging changes in clinical practice, treatment patterns, scientific opinion, unmet medical needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Gather and synthesize external stakeholder insights to inform Medical Affairs strategy, evidence generation, scientific communications, and lifecycle planning.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to translate field insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Support appropriate aspects of Sebela-sponsored clinical research, including identification and evaluation of potential investigators and research sites.
  • Partner with Clinical Development and R&D colleagues to facilitate scientific exchange with investigators and external experts.
  • Identify evidence gaps and research questions emerging from clinical practice that may inform future evidence-generation priorities.
  • Represent Sebela at national and regional scientific congresses, symposia, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other scientific forums.
  • Evaluate emerging data, scientific trends, and competitive developments.
  • Deliver congress insights and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Support planning and execution of advisory boards, scientific meetings, and educational programs.
  • Serve as a trusted scientific resource across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams within compliance guidelines.
  • Contribute to launch readiness, training, medical strategy, and other key organizational initiatives.
  • Operate within a player-coach model by providing mentorship, guidance, and field leadership to MSL colleagues.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, industry guidelines, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support organizational success.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Advanced healthcare or scientific degree required (PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C, MSN)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in Field Medical Affairs preferred.
  • Experience in gastroenterology, particularly GERD, esophageal disease, acid-related disorders, or related therapeutic areas preferred.
  • Experience supporting product launch, Medical Affairs organization, clinical development program, or evidence-generation initiative desired.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with key opinion leaders and scientific stakeholders.
  • Ability to synthesize insights and translate scientific information into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong scientific and clinical judgment with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and interpret complex clinical data and scientific literature.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and credibly with sophisticated clinical and scientific audiences.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to rapidly develop expertise in new scientific and therapeutic areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish authentic professional relationships with external experts.
  • Ability to listen actively, recognize important scientific insights, and rapidly synthesize information into meaningful recommendations.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented leader with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Must be willing to travel with periods of increased travel around major congresses, advisory boards, and key meetings.
Salary Range: $195-250K annual salary (this reflects our reasonable and good faith estimate of what will be paid at the time of posting). Competitive benefits package included.
