Role Description
Form Energy's IT Engineering & Platforms team owns the tools, platforms, and identity infrastructure that the whole company runs on — Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra, Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and the integration layers connecting them to name a few. As Senior Microsoft 365 & Azure Engineer, you will take deep technical ownership of our Microsoft ecosystem. This role picks up and grows a substantial body of existing work — Intune deployment, Autopilot rollout, Azure entitlement management, and device/BYOD governance — and takes it further as Form Energy scales.
This is a hybrid role, which will require working onsite from our office in Somerville, MA 3+ days per week.
Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Own and evolve our Microsoft Intune environment: policy design, compliance baselines, app deployment, and troubleshooting across a growing device fleet.
Lead ongoing Windows Autopilot operations and improvements — provisioning profiles, enrollment experience, and zero-touch deployment at scale.
Manage and expand our Azure Entra entitlement program, including access reviews, conditional access policy, and identity governance as the company grows.
Own SharePoint architecture and governance — site/hub structure, permissions models, information architecture, and lifecycle management as SharePoint scales as a core collaboration platform.
Develop and maintain BYOD and device policy frameworks, including work with external consulting companies and contractors.
Write and maintain technical playbooks and runbooks for the M365/Azure ecosystem so operational knowledge is documented and repeatable, not tribal.
Design and implement automation using Microsoft Graph API and Power Automate to reduce manual toil across identity, device management, SharePoint provisioning, and M365 administration.
Partner with the Risk & Cybersecurity vertical on shared concerns (device compliance, conditional access, identity security) while maintaining clear operational ownership on the Engineering & Platforms side.
Serve as the platform-level escalation point for complex identity, device, or M365 configuration issues that go beyond day-to-day support (day-to-day support, break/fix, and ticket resolution remain owned by IT Operations).
Evaluate new Microsoft ecosystem capabilities (e.g., Copilot, Intune Suite features) and recommend adoption paths.
Contribute to the team's platform inventory, documentation, and knowledge base as we formalize operating processes.
Participate in Incident Response activities as needed.
What you'll bring:
5+ years in a Microsoft 365/Azure engineering or systems administration role, with real depth (not just admin-console familiarity).
Hands-on production experience with Intune — policy authoring, app deployment, troubleshooting at scale.
Direct experience implementing or operating Windows Autopilot.
Working knowledge of Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) — entitlement management, conditional access, access reviews.
Strong hands-on SharePoint management experience — site architecture, permissions/governance, hub sites, and information architecture at an organizational scale.
Experience developing device/security policy for hybrid environments, including contractor or third-party device scenarios (BYOD).
Strong scripting/automation skills, with demonstrated Microsoft Graph API experience for automating identity, device, and M365 workflows.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining Power Automate flows for business process automation across M365/Azure.
Track record of writing clear technical documentation — playbooks, runbooks, SOPs.
Comfortable operating with autonomy and moving quickly; able to design a solution and implement it.
Experience collaborating across security/risk and engineering boundaries without conflating the two.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Copilot deployment or AI governance in a Microsoft ecosystem.
Familiarity with Google Workspace or multi-IdP environments (useful context for Form Energy's hybrid M365/Google setup).
Exposure to manufacturing, hardware, or engineering-heavy companies where IT supports both corporate and plant/lab environments.
Experience with SCIM provisioning or identity sync across platforms (e.g., Slack, Atlassian).
Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that. Form Energy offers competitive salaries, stock options, and a holistic benefits package to ensure all employees have what they need to thrive while working here.

We also offer at least 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents (up to 20 weeks for birthing parents), and generous vacation policies to give employees time to recharge when needed.
