About the company
Our client is a fast-growing global fintech software vendor and a recognized player in electronic trading technology. For more than ten years they have supplied high-performance trading and market data platforms to leading banks, hedge funds and other institutional participants.

Their modular, scalable platform helps clients make quicker, better-informed trading decisions and improve execution quality across several asset classes. Engineering teams are located across Europe, and the culture is collaborative and innovation-driven.

The role
We are looking for an experienced MySQL DBA to own the full database lifecycle: day-to-day administration, high availability and failover, performance tuning, and optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures. You will be the single go-to database specialist for the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Work within fast iteration cycles to help ship reliable, high-quality products

  • Build and maintain database infrastructure hands-on

  • Take ownership of every database environment: development, staging and production

  • Handle administration topics such as security, replication and failover, backups and performance tuning

  • Handle design topics such as schema structure, indexing strategy, and query and stored procedure design

  • Introduce and promote suitable tools, procedures, best practices and architectural standards

  • Review specification documents carefully to identify edge cases and unusual scenarios early

  • Collaborate with development, QA and DevOps teams

  • Grow into the in-house database authority

  • Coach developers and QA engineers on database best practices

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a DBA, including at least 3 years specifically with MySQL

  • Hands-on experience with failover, security, performance optimization and backup/recovery

  • Hands-on experience with database design, testing and maintenance

  • Ability to work independently as the only DBA in the company

  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to root cause analysis

  • Good written and spoken English (mandatory)

Nice to have

  • C++ development experience, especially connecting to MySQL from C++ code

  • Background in financial markets or trading (e.g. FIX protocol)

  • Experience with Jira, SVN and Jenkins
