Why We Need You:

The Senior Network Engineer position designs, builds and supports PEMCO's network and the infrastructure it connects: data center, WAN, wireless and cloud. It leads network projects and problem resolution, and supports virtualization, load balancing, backup and Azure infrastructure, so that technology meets PEMCO's high availability and security requirements and supports future business needs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Install, configure and maintain network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, data center core, wireless, firewalls, load balancers, VPN and cloud connectivity); manage the life cycle standards for infrastructure hardware and software.

  • Learn and support various technologies as a generalist, including platforms that are not Cisco-branded, such as F5 load balancers, Nutanix virtualization and Veeam backup.

  • Provide front-line support to the network environment, act as an escalation point for the Service Desk and operations teams, and lead issue and problem resolution through root cause.

  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches to administration tasks, using scripting or infrastructure as code where it provides consistency and economies of scale.

  • Holistically identify and implement system enhancements that improve performance and reliability.

  • Document and implement procedures and standards: design documents, runbooks, network diagrams, IP address records, configuration data and project deliverables.

  • Create, implement and support private and public cloud integrations, including Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, SaaS and IaaS architectures.

  • Serve as a secondary engineer for virtualization and backup platforms, including restores and disaster recovery testing across both data centers.

  • Perform hands-on data center work, including racking, cabling, hardware replacement and firmware upgrades.

  • Apply network security standards (segmentation, access control, hardening) in partnership with Information Security, and participate in change, incident and problem management.

  • Lead infrastructure projects from design through handover, coach and mentor others on the Infrastructure & Operations team, and work directly with vendors, integrators and carriers.

  • Act as a lead SME for Cisco-based infrastructure and services, both internal and hosted.

  • Act as a SME for the virtual networking infrastructure, including hardware and software-defined routing, switching and firewall platforms.

  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO's policies, values, code of ethics and business conduct.

  • Authentically support the PEMCO Brand and constantly be on the lookout for top talent to join us to achieve our Mission to Worry Less and Live More.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • 1 year of experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms, specifically troubleshooting on the network and infrastructure stack

  • Relevant industry certifications (for example CCNP, Nutanix NCP or Microsoft Azure AZ-700) are preferred

  • Diagramming: Skilled proficiency in Lucid or MS Visio is required

  • MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is required

  • Job specific: Advanced proficiency in network and infrastructure troubleshooting across packets, logs, configurations and physical infrastructure
