TechHeads are working with a Enterprise level organisation who are looking for a experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a growing IT Security team in a highly technical role covering network security, firewall architecture and major infrastructure transformation projects.

This could be a particularly good opportunity for a Senior Network / Network Security Engineer who has already started taking on architecture and design responsibilities and wants to make that a bigger part of their role.

You should have a strong background in enterprise networking and network security, with at least 1 year of experience working at architecture or senior design level, including producing or contributing to HLDs/LLDs and making technical design recommendations.

Palo Alto experience is essential. We’re particularly interested in people who have worked hands-on with Palo Alto firewalls and have experience in areas such as Panorama, HA, firewall migrations, upgrades, lifecycle management and firewall sizing/model selection.

You’ll work across a large enterprise environment covering both on-premise infrastructure and Azure, helping shape secure network designs and supporting a significant programme of security and infrastructure investment.

The environment includes Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba and Azure, with projects covering firewall refreshes and migrations, network segmentation, Zero Trust, LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN/remote access, cloud connectivity and wider security transformation.

You’ll be involved from initial requirements and architecture through HLD/LLD, technical decision-making, implementation oversight and handover, working closely with engineers, suppliers and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain the integrated Managed Services / Operations delivery plan, including Microsoft Project / MPP.
• Manage delivery across SIT, UAT, ORT, Pilot, Go-Live, Hypercare and BAU.
• Coordinate multiple technical and operational workstreams, ensuring clear ownership, milestones, dependencies and deliverables.
• Manage RAID, critical paths, resources, risks, issues and dependencies, driving actions through to closure.
• Work closely with IT Operations, Infrastructure, Applications, Security, Service Management, Testing, suppliers and client stakeholders.
• Ensure the service is fully operationally ready, including support models, monitoring, ITSM processes, documentation, training and escalation paths.
• Manage service transition and the successful handover into BAU / OPEX Managed Services.
• Provide clear and credible reporting to senior management, client governance and Board-level stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Strong enterprise network engineering / network security experience
• Deep Palo Alto firewall experience
• At least 1 year working in network/security architecture or senior-level design
• Experience producing HLD and LLD
• Strong Cisco networking knowledge
• Experience with firewall migrations, upgrades and lifecycle management
• Good stakeholder communication and the ability to explain and defend technical recommendations
• Azure networking/security and Aruba experience would be advantageous
• PCNSE/PCNSA, CCNP/CCIE, CISSP or similar certifications would be beneficial
• Candidate must currently be located in Ireland and hold an EU Passport or Stamp 4 Visa.
