Would
you like to shape how operational risk is understood and managed across a
complex, regulated service?
As
Senior Operational Risk Manager, you’ll lead the second-line operational risk
capability within our Risk & Compliance management team. You’ll manage and
develop the RMF, provide constructive challenge to first-line teams and help
the business make informed, risk-based decisions.
You’ll
oversee RCSA, control testing, incident management and operational resilience,
using MI and analytics to identify emerging risks, control weaknesses and areas
requiring management attention. You’ll also coach colleagues, strengthen risk
awareness and help ensure that regulatory, contractual and client expectations
are met.
This
is a full-time, permanent hybrid role. You’ll work remotely with occasional
travel to client sites across the North West and East. You’ll join a supportive
team focused on effective risk management, positive customer outcomes and
continuous improvement.
What
you'll be doing:
- Manage, review and enhance the operational risk framework, including its policies, standards, procedures and reporting.
- Lead second-line oversight and constructive challenge, ensuring operational risks are understood, owned and managed effectively.
- Oversee RCSA and control testing, including the assessment and reporting of results and the tracking of agreed actions.
- Embed operational resilience and incident management practices, including root cause analysis and preventative action.
- Develop MI and analytics that identify emerging risks, control weaknesses and changes to the organisation’s risk profile.
- Support and coach colleagues, strengthen risk awareness and promote continuous improvement across the business.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong knowledge of operational risk management principles and risk management frameworks within financial services or another regulated environment.
- Experience of managing RCSA, control testing, risk events, issue management and action-tracking processes.
- The ability to provide effective second-line oversight and challenge while taking a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret risk data, identify trends and present clear insight that supports decision-making.
- Experience of influencing senior stakeholders, operational teams, clients and suppliers while balancing customer, regulatory and business needs.
- Sound judgement and leadership skills, including the ability to coach colleagues, manage competing priorities and support the delivery of risk strategy.
It would be great if you had:
- Experience of working within banking, savings, collections or another financial services environment.
- Experience of business, risk or committee governance within financial services.
- Knowledge of operational resilience, incident management, Consumer Duty and regulatory expectations relevant to operational risk.
If
you’re interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are
exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
