Location: Remote, EST Hours
Type: Full-Time, Independent Contractor
Experience: 5+ years in paid media strategy, with enterprise budget ownership
Pay Range: $25-$27 per hour, based on experience
Reports to: Media Team Lead
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Paid Media Strategist to take full ownership of one of our largest and most complex accounts, a multi-location US home improvement brand running a seven-figure annual media program across Google Search, Performance Max, Meta, Bing and Local Services Ads, alongside a focused portfolio of established eCommerce and lead-gen clients.
This is a senior, client-facing seat, not an execution seat. You'll run the weekly client sync and the monthly performance review yourself. You'll own the numbers, the change log, and the tracking behind both. We're not looking for someone to run a plan handed to them. We're looking for the person the client trusts to say what's working, what isn't, and what we're doing about it this week.
One thing sets this role apart from most senior PPC jobs: you own measurement integrity. At this budget level, a broken conversion action or a mis-scoped tag isn't a reporting inconvenience. It silently misdirects bidding and burns real money before anyone notices. We need someone who treats GA4 and Google Tag Manager as core craft, not as someone else's job.
You'll be supported by a Media Team Lead, a Performance Marketing Specialist, dedicated creative and email teams, and an internal AI stack we actively build on. What you won't have is someone checking your work for you. That's the level we're hiring at.
What You'll Be Doing
Account Ownership & Client Leadership
- Serve as the senior day-to-day owner for your accounts, including our high-ticket lead gen clients
- Lead weekly client syncs and monthly performance reviews independently: set the agenda, present the numbers, defend the recommendation
- Translate business goals (cost per appointment, cost per lead, revenue targets) into media plans, and translate results back into plain language
- Own budget pacing and reallocation across markets, products and platforms; flag over- and under-delivery before month-end, not after
- Maintain a clean, current change log so every performance movement can be traced to a decision
Measurement & Tracking Integrity
- Own GA4 and Google Tag Manager configuration for your accounts: conversion actions, event definitions, triggers, consent and cross-domain setup
- Validate that platform-reported conversions reconcile with CRM and call-tracking reality, and investigate discrepancies before a client raises them
Multi-Location & Multi-Market Paid Search
- Build and scale campaigns across multiple metro markets with distinct budgets, demand curves and seasonality
- Manage Local Services Ads alongside Search and Performance Max, and understand how they cannibalize and complement each other
- Structure geo, product and campaign naming and UTM conventions so reporting rolls up cleanly by market and product line
Cross-Channel Strategy
- Plan across channels rather than platform by platform, and build a funnel view that accounts for audience differences, intent stages and creative fit
- Lead campaigns across Google (Search, Shopping, Performance Max), Bing, Meta, and where the client fits, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and Reddit
- Steer platform AI intentionally (Performance Max, Advantage+, Demand Gen, AI Max) using guardrails, negatives, exclusions and asset control rather than accepting defaults
AI-Assisted Execution
- Use our internal AI stack (Claude, Claude Code, and connected data tools) for analysis, QA, reporting and creative ideation
- Build lightweight automations that scale what you do: anomaly alerts, budget checks, feed monitoring, insight surfacing
- Contribute what you learn back to the team's shared workflows and documentation
Quality Ownership
- Ship work QA'd. Peer review is a check, not your safety net. Nothing leaves your hands that you haven't verified yourself
- Apply our standard: don't send anything you wouldn't read yourself. That applies to reports, client emails, and change logs equally
- Escalate early and specifically. Surface risk while it's still cheap to fix
Who You Are
- 5+ years managing paid media for US clients, with meaningful time in an agency or consulting environment
- You've personally held accounts at $100K+ per month in managed spend and can speak to how that changes decision-making
- Genuinely strong in GA4 and Google Tag Manager. You've built and debugged conversion tracking yourself, not briefed someone else to do it
- Expert-level in Google Ads (Search, Shopping, Performance Max) and confident across Meta and Bing
- A confident, proactive communicator in English, written and spoken, at a C1 level or above. You can hold a room with a client, simplify complexity, and deliver bad news well. All candidates complete an English and a DISC assessment as part of our process
- Comfortable owning the number and being accountable for it
- Detail-obsessed in a specific way: you check your own work before anyone asks
- You see problems coming. Pacing drift, a tracking gap, a rising cost per lead, a platform change that will hurt the account next month. The client hears it from you first, with a plan attached
- Curious about AI and automation, and already using it in your workflow
- Self-directed and reliable in a remote, globally distributed team
Bonus if You Have
- High-ticket local lead-gen experience
- Multi-location or franchise paid search experience
- Server-side tracking, GA4 privacy configuration, or BigQuery / Looker Studio reporting
- Experience with product feed management (Google Merchant Center, Meta catalogs, DataFeedWatch, Channable)
- Experience with TV, direct mail or other offline media running alongside digital, and attributing across them
- Built automations or scripts with Google Ads scripts, Zapier, Supermetrics or similar
Hours
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM US Eastern, Monday to Friday. We're a global team spread across five timezones and our clients are US-based, so overlapping the US day is what keeps us working as one team rather than five. There's flexibility within those hours, shaped mostly by client calls and internal meetings. We'll talk through what a typical week looks like at an interview. If working US Eastern hours doesn't fit your life, please don't apply. We'd rather both of us know now.
