Why this role is important to us
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems with technology to strengthen our GPSD technology and Operational Excellence capabilities. This role will work across Workday and other technology platforms to drive system enhancements, automation, AI adoption, and scalable process improvements.
This role goes beyond Workday: you’ll connect business needs with technology, including AI. We are seeking someone with broader technical capability who can connect business needs with technology solutions and collaborate effectively with technical teams.
The role sits within the Solutions & Technology team and combines two responsibilities: owning the Workday back-end operations and acting as the technical partner to the Operational Excellence team on AI projects – turning ideas into working prototypes and production-ready solutions. We are looking for someone who is as comfortable in Workday as they are with modern AI tools, APIs and code.
What you will be responsible for
- Help shape the technology-enabled improvements across GPSD processes and platforms.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation, AI, and process digitization.
- Support Workday and other system enhancements, including requirements, testing, and implementation.
- Partner with IT and other technical teams to translate operational needs into scalable solutions.
- Improve data, reporting, dashboards, and operational insights.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and reduce manual activities and operational risk.
- Support adoption of new technologies and capabilities across GPSD.
- Contribute to Workday back-end operations as part of Global People Service Delivery Team.
- Act as the technical lead for AI projects within Operational Excellence.
- Design, build and maintain AI agents and automated workflows (e.g. using Claude, Copilot Studio, Power Automate or similar) that reduce manual effort across GPSD processes.
- Apply prompt engineering and AI best practice – craft, test and refine prompts, instructions and evaluation approaches to ensure accurate, consistent outputs.
- Write scripts and lightweight code (e.g. Python, SQL, JavaScript, Power Platform) to automate tasks, transform data and extend system capabilities.
- Ensure AI solutions comply with data privacy, security and responsible-AI standards, including HR data sensitivity, access controls and GDPR; partner with IT Security, Legal and Compliance as needed.
- Coach and enable colleagues on AI tools and ways of working, and keep up to date with emerging AI capabilities relevant to HR and Operational Excellence.
What we value
Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing to and thriving in the role described above. How you acquired your skills is less important - we value your potential, mindset, and willingness to learn. We expect you to bring strength in several of the areas below and to be motivated to develop further in others.
- Experience in HR technology, HRIS, automation, digital transformation, or process improvement.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday (HCM and ideally Recruiting, Talent, Compensation or Reporting) – experience in other enterprise HR platforms is a plus.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to work across multiple systems and tools.
- Practical, hands-on experience with AI tools and automation (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT/Copilot, Power Automate), including prompt engineering and building AI-enabled workflows or agents.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to bridge the gap between business operations and technical teams.
- Curious and proactive, and keen to suggest better ways of working.
- Working knowledge of coding/scripting (e.g. Python, SQL, JavaScript) and APIs / integration concepts (REST, JSON, OAuth, webhooks, connectors).
- Understanding of AI agents, MCP / connector frameworks, and LLM concepts (context, limitations, hallucination risk, evaluation).
- Awareness of data privacy, information security and responsible AI considerations when working with HR data.
- Fluent English (written and spoken), strong communication skills to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Power BI or similar analytics tools, and low-code/no-code platforms (Power Apps, Power Platform).
- Experience delivering AI or automation projects end-to-end in an HR or shared-services environment.
- Familiarity with Agile / project delivery and change management practices.
