Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world.
Wood is seeking Expressions of Interest for a Senior Piping Designer to join our Singapore team in support of a major EPCM chemical plant project on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of a world-scale chemical manufacturing facility, supporting piping design activities across all phases of project execution.
Based in Singapore, you will support the delivery of piping design work within a multidisciplinary project team, developing safe, efficient, constructable, and cost-effective design solutions while contributing to the successful execution of a significant capital project.
You must hold (or be eligible to obtain) legal working rights in Singapore. Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and suitably qualified professionals requiring Employment Pass sponsorship are encouraged to apply.
Reporting to the Piping Discipline Manager or Lead Piping Designer, you will support the execution of piping design activities throughout the EPCM project lifecycle, including concept studies, FEED, detailed design, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing piping layouts and 3D models for chemical and process plant facilities
- Preparing and checking piping design deliverables including equipment layouts, piping layouts, general arrangements, isometrics, and material take-offs
- Interpreting P&IDs, equipment data, line lists, piping specifications, and engineering requirements to develop practical piping design solutions
- Ensuring design work complies with client specifications, project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinating with process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and piping engineering disciplines to support integrated design solutions
- Developing piping and equipment layouts incorporating operability, maintainability, accessibility, safety, and constructability requirements
- Supporting piping flexibility, pipe support, equipment nozzle, and stress analysis requirements through effective coordination with piping engineers and stress engineers
- Participating in 3D model reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and value engineering workshops
- Reviewing and checking piping models and design deliverables to maintain design quality and consistency
- Resolving design clashes and multidisciplinary interface issues in coordination with relevant engineering and design disciplines
- Providing piping design support during construction, commissioning, and start-up activities
- Identifying design issues and contributing to practical and constructable solutions
- Supporting quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the piping discipline
You will contribute to Wood's commitment to design excellence, safety, quality, and client satisfaction while gaining exposure to a major chemical plant development project.
With extensive piping design experience within the chemical, petrochemical, refining, LNG, pharmaceuticals, or process industries, you will have a strong track record of delivering piping design solutions within multidisciplinary project environments.
In addition, you will:
- Have significant experience in a Senior Piping Designer or similar piping design role within EPCM or EPC project environments
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of piping design, pipe routing, equipment layouts, and plant layout principles
- Have experience supporting projects through FEED and/or detailed design phases
- Be experienced in developing piping and equipment layouts considering operability, maintainability, accessibility, safety, and constructability requirements
- Have strong experience working in 3D plant design and modelling environments
- Be capable of producing and checking piping deliverables including general arrangements, piping layouts, isometrics, and material take-offs
- Be familiar with piping specifications, piping materials, pipe supports, and piping flexibility requirements
- Possess familiarity with applicable piping codes and standards including ASME B31.3 and relevant industry and client specifications
- Have experience participating in multidisciplinary 3D model and design reviews
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and resolve piping design clashes and multidisciplinary interface issues
- Demonstrate strong communication and coordination skills
- Be capable of managing assigned design work to meet project schedule and quality requirements
- Be proficient in relevant 3D plant design, model review, and Microsoft Office applications
What Will Set You Apart
- Experience working on chemical, petrochemical, refining, LNG, or pharmaceutical projects
- Exposure to EPCM project environments
- Advanced experience with 3D plant design platforms and model review processes
- Experience leading or coordinating piping design activities within multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong experience in equipment arrangement, pipe routing, and complex piping layout development
